The 230-room Marriott Portland City Center offers luxury accommodation at an affordable price for both the leisure and business traveler. The 20-story, non-smoking hotel is close to the city’s business center and two blocks from the MAX Light Rail system giving direct service to the Oregon Zoo, the Rose Garden, and the Portland International Airport. The non-smoking full-service hotel has six meeting rooms for social or business functions. Nearby attractions and landmarks include two golf courses, shopping downtown and at Pioneer Place, Mount Hood, the Portland Saturday Market, the Columbia River Gorge, Washington Park, the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry and Portland International Raceway.

Travelers loved the luxury and downtown location of this full-service hotel. There were complaints however, about the high cost of wireless Internet access in the room, and the valet parking costs. Many clients had to admit that the employees handling the valet parking were extremely helpful and informative and that took some sting out of the $25 per night charge. Those who used the Internet in the business center said that there was no charge but unfortunately the speed was v e r y s l o w. All the guestrooms, and 11 suites, have a work desk with high-speed Internet access, cable television with cable movie and news channels, pay-per-view movies, pullout sofa bed, alarm clock, tea and coffee making facilities, iron and ironing board, hairdryer, and cordless two-line telephone with voicemail and speakerphone.

Amenities offered

This hotel has a large indoor whirlpool and a fitness center. Shula’s American Steakhouse is open for breakfast lunch and dinner and room service is available from 6am until 11pm. There are restaurants within walking distance including the Portland City Grill, Pazzo and Jakes Grill. The 24-hour front desk has safe deposit boxes and there is a full service business center. Other amenities include a concierge desk, on-site laundry, valet dry-cleaning, vending machines and a gift shop and newsstand.

From Portland Airport (PDX) 9 miles: Take I-205 South to I-84 West. Follow signs to City Center exit 300B. Follow signs to Morrison Street Bridge, which turns into Washington Street. Turn Left on Broadway. The hotel is on the corner of Broadway and Washington.
