Eugene is probably best known for its dedication to preserving nature. This entire city is laced with miles of great bike paths and walking trails and has the beautiful Willamette River flowing through it. If you need a challenge make your way to the Three Sisters Wilderness. Here you’ll find hundreds of miles of paths that go from slightly to immensely challenging. Whichever route you choose, you’ll be surrounded by stunning beauty... but the trails will still remain the primary reason why you can’t catch your breath. Skiers can head over to Willamette Pass, which is only an hour drive from Eugene. Other nearby ski hills include Mount Bachelor and Hoodoo. Perhaps it comes as no surprise then that the oldest pair of running shoes can be found in Eugene.
