Deceptive Description - posted on 05/31/2007
There are no 27 inch flat screen TV's in this hotel, the lobby and rooms have a musty smell, the service in the Cafe Martin Restaurant was lacking, furniture in our one bedroom suite was very outdated, we had a water heater in our closet, bathroom lighting was very low and outdated. Highlights were location to downtown and many restaurants are within walking distance. We could also walk to the Great American Ball Park to see the Reds. Staff was friendly.
Loved this Hotel - posted on 03/24/2007
I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Cincinnati. The rooms, although a little dated, are large and spacious, and the staff are top notch. We really enjoyed our stay and plan to stay there again.
Rooms are big, but old - posted on 03/13/2007
The reason you stay at the Garfield is to get a big room for a little price. Unfortunately, the rooms are a bit worn and not that clean (food in the trash can). Convenient location, but I do not recommend walking the neighborhood.
First time in Cincinnati - posted on 01/27/2007
I was a little apprehensive but that all went away when I opened the door to my room. The room was clean, large and comfortable. Daily maid service was nice to come home to. Staff were great to work with and talk with. I have no concerns about staying there again. I spoke with associates staying in other hotels and they complained about "shoe box" rooms for more money. Not at Garfield Suites Hotel. I had a 2 bedroom appartment for a lot less. Great restaurants, etc. with in walking distance. I'll recommend this to anyone.
Great Suite - posted on 01/15/2007
Great hotel, very clean and friendly staff. Parking only $1 for 24hr period in garage, everything was as stated in the description, also very affordable.
did not live up to the description - posted on 12/27/2006
The description included a hot tub, which the hotel did not have. Plus there was no indication online that ALL of the fitness facilities (including the pool at the YWCA) were only available to adults. This hotel should be flagged for NOT being family friendly.
Best-kept secret? - posted on 10/09/2006
First, the bad news: decor is a bit dated and worn, and shower water pressure isn't great. That's it! Suites are HUGE w/full size kitchens, walk-in closets, and are spotlessly clean. Bus stops to anywhere in the metro area are 1-2 blocks away, and the staff is great. Self-parking in the adjacent public garage is also dirt-cheap ($11 for almost three full days). We will probably never stay anywhere else in Cincinnati again.
Could be better - posted on 08/24/2006
Hotel front desk workers were not pleasant at all. Bathroom was old and very dark. No pen and paper in the room. Alarm clock did not work. Cable TV was awful. Not enough channels and no music channels. Cannot enter parking garage after 1:00am.
great value/pleasant accomodations - posted on 11/26/2005
Great downtown location-easy walking to entertainment and sporting venues. Large, clean suites at a great price. We had 7 adults in two suites and everyone had plenty of room, privacy, etc. These suites are apartment size and the price is lower than most "conventional" hotel rooms! Very satisfied and would definitely return.
The only place to stay in downtown Cincy - posted on 10/23/2005
This hotel is perfect! Great rooms, great staff, and the bar is the lobby is always full of friendly people. It's close to everything downtown, and has full suites with kitchens for the price of most regular rooms at other hotels. I highly recommend it to anyone heading to downtown Cincinnati.
Disappointing - posted on 09/11/2005
Due to the location of the smoky bar, it is impossible to enjoy a smoke-free stay at this hotel. Even our room on a non-smoking floor smelled of smoke, and was not as clean as we'd have liked. Great location, easy and cheap parking a block or so away.
Worse stay - posted on 08/08/2005
We reserved 2 rooms at the Garfield, so we could walk to dinner and have drinks! On arrival the VERY unpleasant Manager was very rude! He was very short, not only with us but, with his staff. The shower leaked and left an inch of water on the bathroom floor! We called the front desk and they told us someone would be right up! 45 minutes later no one had come! We called again were told the same thing with a lot of attitude.

wow - posted on 05/31/2005
Wow! These are apartment/penthouse type accommodations... 2 TV's (1 in the living room, 1 in the bedroom) loved the balcony... I was hesitant because I had never heard of this chain before... But, this is definitely the best value for the money I've ever received in Cincinnati.

I have stayed at The Garfield on three trips to Cincinnati. I have always stayed in a two bedroom suite which includes a living room, a dining area, a full kitchen, two bedrooms, and a bath. You will not believe the size of these rooms! The location is absolutely perfect for checking out downtown. You cannot beat the price for a family trip!
