Minot has an interesting history. During the 1920s it became a stopping point for Al Capone’s smugglers. Some of the underground tunnels that were used for transportation still exist today. Minot has preserved ‘law abiding’ history as well. The Pioneer Village is a wonderful collection of historic buildings and the Scandinavian Heritage Park showcases Scandinavia’s architecture. Housed in a stunning 1920s building, Taube Museum of Art provides you with wonderful exhibits and shows. Golf enthusiasts will be happy to know that Minot has great golf courses as well. Make your way to the Roosevelt Park Zoo for some family fun. It has some very interesting animals. Some of the residents include a Bearded Dragon, Frilled Lizard, African Penguin, Bobcat, Bengal Tiger, Grey Wolf, Amur Leopard, Tree Python and Red-Tailed Hawk. Could you imagine a Block Party with these neighbors? The North Dakota State Fair Center is the place to go for entertainment and festivals. The largest event by far though is the actual state fair that draws hundreds of thousands of guests each summer.
