The palm trees beckon and the water falls at this Holiday Inn Waterpark and Conference Hotel in Grand Forks, North Dakota. With a complimentary airport and medical center shuttle service, central location to area sights, and amenities guests won't find anywhere else, this is the spot for any traveler to find fun or relaxation. Near to the university and Ralph Engelstad Arena, you'll love the Polynesian themed aquatics center, including a 110-ft. water slide, a jetted spa suited to up to twenty people, the water island with mini sliders, water sprays and gigantic bucket that splashes unsuspecting swimmers. While the waterpark does have restricted hours, it's just for guests of the hotel, and wrist bands come with registration. On-site, the Peartree restaurant serves a delicious Sunday brunch, while the lobby boasts a casino, and the hotel provides room for conferences and banquets up to 400.

Only stay if you have small children who want the waterpark experience. Guests say the pool is very shallow, making it difficult for older children to swim or enjoy the slides, and report rooms near the pool and wedding hall areas get very noisy. This hotel needs to be renovated, and has issues with maintenance and cleanliness. While there are adult hours posted for the pool area and whirlpool, they weren't enforced by the hotel. This is not the place for adults to relax. Overall, guests felt the hotel had a run-down feeling, and most would not stay again despite the staff being friendly and helpful, and the restaurant providing good food at reasonable prices. With 148 guest rooms, and suites, the Holiday Inn has the variety to meet any guest's needs. Basic rooms comes with in-room movies and games, phones with speaker phone capability, data ports, coffee makers, irons and ironing boards, hair dryers, a work space with desk, lamp and extra outlets. Upgrades include sofa beds, suites with sitting areas and dining tables, kitchenettes, and VCRs.

While this hotel sits in a wonderful location, that's not the only benefit of checking in. One of its outstanding features, the indoor waterpark, runs from September 3 through May 22, with the large slide open Fridays from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Entrance to the aquatic area comes with room registration. Also on-site is a recreation area with foosball, ping pong, arcade and snack bar (open weekends). The lounge includes casino gaming for adults, and business travelers will appreciate the copy, facsimile, printing, and wireless internet service available, along with the available computer.
