Fargo has come a long way from its humble beginnings as a train depot. Great shopping and entertainment, well preserved history and museums makes this a great place to explore.
Step back in time at Bonanzaville. This historic village shows you what life was like back in the 1900s. Touring the log cabins, schoolhouse, farms and general store truly makes you appreciate the luxuries of today. The classic car, airplane and tractor are also a real treat. Just make sure when you step back in time you don’t step in a cow pie. Built around the 1930s, the Fargo Theatre is a beautifully restored Art Deco building that showcases movies and theatre productions throughout the year.
The Plains Art Museum is located in downtown Fargo. The exhibits and collections, which include Native American and Folk Art, make it one of the largest in the state. West Acres is a great mall that includes stores like Abercrombie and Fitch, Gap and Aeropostale. Marshall Fields, Herberger’s, Sears and JCPenny serve as its anchor stores. What makes this mall extra special though is the baseball museum dedicated to Roger Maris. He broke Babe Ruth’s home run record back in 1961 and this museum is a fantastic tribute to this baseball legend. Enjoy an evening at the Fargodome, which is home to Broadway musicals, fantastic concerts, arena football and more.
