The 187-room Marriott Durham Civic Center is located in the heart of downtown Durham in the business and financial center and is connected to the civic center and adjacent to Durham Arts Center. The nine-story, non-smoking hotel provides quality accommodation at an affordable price for both the business and leisure traveler. The hotel operates a free shuttle to area attractions within a four-mile radius. Other items included in the rates are high-speed Internet access, local telephone calls, a morning newspaper and coffee available in the lobby. The hotel has 13 meeting rooms for social or business functions. The largest, the Exhibit Hall, can accommodate 2,000 guests. The property is two miles from Duke University, the Duke Hospitals and North Carolina Central University. The Durham Bulls Athletic Park, home of the Durham Bulls and the Bull Durham Blues Festival, is within walking distance. It is an even shorter walk to the Carolina Theatre, which is in the civic center complex.

Marriott Durham Civic Center Accommodations

All the guestrooms, and two suites, have a work desk with high-speed Internet access, cable television with movie and news channels, pay-per-view movies, pullout sofa bed, alarm clock, tea and coffee making facilities, iron and ironing board, hairdryer and an IDD telephone with voicemail. The rooms on the concierge level have upgraded amenities and access to the concierge lounge, which provides a free breakfast and hors d’oeurves and drinks in the evening.

Dining options include the Bull Pen, which is open for dinner and the Bull City Steakhouse, which is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Room service is available from 6.30am until 10pm. There are several restaurants nearby including Bullock’s Bar-B-Que, Café Zen and Tyler’s Restaurant and Tap Room. The hotel has an exercise room but no swimming pool. Guests can utilize the fitness center and indoor swimming pool at the nearby YMCA. The 24-hour front desk has safe deposit boxes and information on area events and attractions. Other amenities include a coin-operated laundry, copy and fax services, vending machines and a gift shop and newsstand.

From Raleigh-Durham Airport (RDU) 13.9 miles: Head west on I-40 to 147 North (Durham Freeway) exit at Roxboro. Turn right at bottom of the exit ramp. At the third light, bear left onto downtown loop. At the third traffic light, turn left onto Foster Street. The hotel is on the right.
