The pet-friendly TownePlace Suites by Marriott Charlotte University Research Park provides inexpensive accommodation equally suited to the business traveler or families on vacation. The three-story, non-smoking hotel comprises 96 suites with fully equipped kitchens and separate living and sleeping areas. The hotel is located between Charlotte and Concord and close to the University of North Carolina. Items included in the room rate are a hot breakfast buffet, or grab-and-go breakfast bag, high-speed Internet access, local telephone calls, parking and coffee available in the lobby 24/7. The hotel is a short drive from Lowe’s Motor Speedway, Concord Mills, Verizon Wireless Amphitheater, uptown Charlotte, Bank of America Stadium, home of the Carolina Panthers, and the Time Warner Cable Arena, home of the Charlotte Bobcats.

Families with pets, looking for extended stay accommodation, say that this inn solved the problem. The suites were spacious and the employees were efficient and friendly – and even found treats for their dogs. The grown-ups liked the donuts available in the lobby in the morning and younger members of the family enjoyed the pool. Travelers passing through the area said the inn was easy to find, close to I-85, and the rates were reasonable. All the suites have a fully equipped kitchen with a refrigerator, dishwasher, conventional and microwave oven, coffeemaker, toaster, toaster oven and cutlery and crockery. Other amenities include a work desk with high-speed Internet access, television with cable news and movie channels, pullout sofa bed, two-line telephone with voicemail, hairdryer, alarm clock and an iron and ironing board.

The hotel has an outdoor seasonal swimming pool and a fitness center. There is no restaurant on-site but there are several places to eat nearby including a Romano’s Macaroni Grill, a Jack and Jill Sports Bar, a Longhorn Steakhouse and a TGI Fridays. The 24-hour front desk has safe deposit boxes and information on area events and attractions. Other amenities include a coin-operated laundry, vending machines, copy and fax services, valet dry cleaning and a picnic area with a barbecue grill.
