The pet-friendly Crowne Plaza Tennis and Golf Resort-Asheville is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains one mile from downtown Asheville and comprises 272 rooms designed for the upmarket leisure traveler. The rooms have private balconies with views of the hotel’s golf course. The resort is 15 miles from the Asheville Regional Airport and within minutes of many attractions including the Biltmore Estate, Blue Ridge Parkway, Whitewater Rafting and the North Carolina Arboretum. Items included with the room rate at this five-story, non-smoking resort are high-speed Internet access, local telephone calls, in-room coffee, a morning newspaper and parking. There is more than 34,000 square feet of flexible meeting space including a new 16,600 square feet Expo Center.

This Crowne Plaza is not the luxury resort that many visitors to Asheville were expecting. We still give it the YES rating because the hotel does offer great value for money and it is does have a good assortment of recreational activities. Most clients said the rooms were spotlessly clean and well equipped but the grounds could be improved with some TLC. Complaints about the on-site nine-hole golf course being unattractive will stop now that the course has been upgraded. Many guests said they would stay here again because of the reasonable prices and recommend the property to others with the proviso that this not a five-star resort but a hotel with friendly and efficient employees and in easy reach of the scenic areas that North Carolina is noted for. All the rooms, four suites and 17 king executive suites have high-speed Internet access, television with cable news and movie channels, AM/FM radio-alarm clock, CD player, coffee and tea making facilities, refrigerator, microwave oven, hairdryer, iron and ironing board and telephone with voicemail. Rollaway beds and connecting rooms are available.

This hotel has a nine-hole golf course, four indoor tennis courts, 10 outdoor clay courts, a fitness center and a seasonal outdoor heated swimming pool. The on-site Pro’s Table Restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and Mulligan’s Bar and Grille is open throughout the day with sandwiches, snacks and drink specials. Room service is available from 6am until 9pm. The 24-hour front desk has safe deposit boxes and information on area events and attractions. Other amenities include a business center, ATM, laundry and dry cleaning services, a gift shop and ice and vending machines.
