If you suffer from mold or mildew allergies, DO NOT STAY HERE! Rooms are nicely appointed, but are ridden with mold. My whole family was sick within a few hours and cut our stay short after one night.
Good location, only OK for the $$ - posted on 06/21/2006
We have stayed at the hotel several times as there are not a lot of options in the downtown Asheville area. Easy walk to everything. Service is pretty good, but there were hairs scattered all of the bathroom - in the soap dish, on the floor, and on the shower walls. Also, have to pay for internet and the room service food is very mediocre.
Nice for the Price - posted on 05/19/2006
Rooms were clean and "cozy" (small but comfortable). Hotel is within walking distance to anything in downtown Asheville. The hotel charges for internet access, a very strange sight these days. Front desk staff were extremely professional and courteous.

The Asheville Renaissance is convienent to downtown. This is one reason I picked this hotel. We went for an event at the Asheville civic center, and we were able to walk to the civic center from the hotel in less than ten minutes - only three blocks away. So we didn't have to fight traffic, and find a place to park either. We ate at downtown eateries, so we did not eat at the hotel restaurant. The bed was so big, and linens so soft. My wife has been searching for sheets and comforter like them. The bathroom could have been larger though - almost enough room to turn around.
Very Mediocre - posted on 12/30/2005
Was expecting a little better. Noticed that couples received king rooms even though heard staff telling a large single man that no kings were available. The desk were out of mini bar keys so had to keep checking back. Then when we opened it, several items were missing. Couldn't be sure the room had actually been cleaned.

Stayed here for a conference. If you can, get a corner room on a high floor, it is well worth it as you are in your own "apartment" and it is quiet as a tomb. Elevators are fast. Staff is great. Downtown is plain but hotel is nice.
Great beds - posted on 11/07/2005
I stayed here for a convention, so I didn't eat at hotel restaurants. Beds were wonderful! Good location and helpful staff.
worst renaissance ever! - posted on 08/01/2005
This hotel has great location right in the heart of downtown Asheville. That is where the positives end. The rooms were in terrible condition. The carpet was worn thin and the room smelled terrible. The staff was not helpful. I would stay else where
Asheville Renaissance Honeymoon Vacation - posted on 07/30/2005
My wife and I had a terrific vacation in Asheville, North Carolina at the Renaisssance Hotel. When the clerk found out that we were on our honeymonn, she immediately found us a private corner room. In addition, we were awarded a complimentary breakfast for two. During our stay, all hotel staff were cordial and informative directing us to many of the city's "hot-spots." The highlight came during our second day when we found a complimentary gift basket in our room with wine, fruit, and fine cheeses. It was quite a treat.
Nice Hotel - posted on 06/02/2005
Renaissance was very comfortable and clean and nicely appointed. Asheville has so many good restaurants, no need to go to the hotel restaurant.

Nice hotel and location. Was put off by the false advertising. They advertise Internet, but charge $10 extra per night. Everyplace else the net is free. Suggest web users go elsewhere.
Great Experience - posted on 02/06/2005
Most friendly staff of anywhere I've ever stayed. Really exceptional. Very clean room with comfortable beds. Lots of personal items (shampoo, lotion, etc. . .) to compliment the stay. Only complaints, which are minor, concern the lack of a fan in the bathrom (it steamed the mirrors easily), and the closure of the fitness/ pool area (it is being renovated and will reopen next week). I would nonetheless will stay there again on my next trip.
Would Come Again - posted on 05/03/2004
We enjoyed our stay and especially getting stuck in the elevator just prior to our check out. Your staff were prompt in retrieving us so no harm was done. We would come again.
