Good value - posted on 04/28/2007

stayed here twice great for the Upper West side -No complaints. Just small. Cozy; a little dingy but comfortable enough.

Small, but quaint - posted on 03/22/2007

Stayed here while accompanying a student for a Juilliard audtion. Location was amazing--we were able to walk any and everywhere we wanted to go. Local eateries were awesome. Plan to come back and stay here with my own children this summer. Hotel was in the middle of a much needed renovation, but were still receptive to our requests. Excellent staff.

quick trip - posted on 03/11/2007

Location was perfect for my quick one night stay in NYC. Furnishings could have been a bit more updated... but othewise not bad for the price. Rooms are small... very small... but perfect for students or a single traveler. I felt safe at all times.

Too tight - posted on 02/16/2007

Small room with large furniture, so that it was nearly impossible to get around the desk to the closet, or to get to the bathroom in the night without knocking into furniture. Heat pipes pounded on and off through the night.. Light came in around poor door casement. Old furniture was scratched and dented. Great location and actually quite clean.

Small is one thing... - posted on 01/16/2007

I seriously considered checking out and finding another hotel. The room was extremely small, but to add insult to injury, I don't think the room had been cleaned (other than a swipe of the bathroom and changing the sheets) since the 1970's. The carpeting was beyond worn, and the one dresser looked like it had been salvaged from garbage pick-up. This hotel isn't fit for the roaches.

Closet-sized room - posted on 12/19/2006

The rooms appear to have been built around the bed and nightstand - there is practically no floor space at all. Closet about 8 inches wide. Had to move the dresser to be able to open the bathroom door. Reasonably clean, but miniscule.

Brrrrrr - posted on 12/18/2006

Compared to the hotel I stayed in the previous evening, the Comfort Inn was luxury. However, the room was very poorly insulated. There were drafts coming from all the windows and there was not heater in the room, only AC. There were no extra blankets either..and judging from how long it took the elevator to get to my floor, I decided it was better to wear my sweater to bed. I will say , the location of this hotel is great. I was within walking distance from Central Park and the hotel staff were for the most part friendly.

A sardine in NYC - posted on 10/18/2006

We squeezed three adults into a room called a closet. The biggest problem with the hotel: dirty sheets, and floors!

TOOOOO SMALL!!! - posted on 10/10/2006

The first room they gave us was no bigger than a closet with 1 window that faced a wall. The second room was a bit larger, but even though in NYC, not worth the money. Next time I'd spend a bit more to not feel clostrophobic.

How Much Time Will You Spend in the Room, Anyway? - posted on 09/28/2006

Rooms are tee-niny, but adequate and clean. Would definitely stay there again for the location--easy access to Central Park/museums; short walk to theater district. Easy access anywhere, really.

Tiny, good location - posted on 08/03/2006

Room is adequate, and a fair choice if you do not plan to be in the room very much. It had cable, reasonably clean, and in a good location. Shows some wear and needs to be cleaned/upgraded in spots. Very small rooms, guest service was adequate. Continental breakfast was generous.

Horrible Experience - posted on 07/06/2006

They made two mistakes. Did not inform me cancellation is 24 hours before and out of 2 with one double and one twin and 2 with one double, they gave me only 1 with double and twin. I tried to cancel before 4:00 pm and was informed they will charge me one night on all 4. Next morning when I complained the manager offered me a 50% discount on 1 room. But I was looking for an apology and after an argument, he threatened to throw me out.

Needs lower lamps - posted on 06/25/2006

Hotel has a great location, and it fine if you don't plan to spend too much time in the room. It was annoying because the bedside lamps are so high up that you can't reach the switch, and in my room, there were no bedside tables for placing glasses, book, etc. Staff friendly and helpful.

Stay a Block from the Park! - posted on 04/23/2006

Although the Comfort Inn is not, strictly speaking, comfortable in all respects, its location is phenomenal. My godson and I found ourselves a block away from the Dakota, John and Yoko's residence, and on the same block as one of their favorite cafes. The neighborhood was tranquil and enlivening. As for the hotel, the front desk was helpful, the room was adequate with plenty of light and some nice views of roof gardens, but the drain in the tub was sluggish and the sheets seemed to be refugees from the fifties. If you love Central Park and the Beatles, stay there anyway.

needs renovation. - posted on 04/14/2006

Room size was decent for NY, but room (especially bathroom) could have been cleaner. Toilet is from the pre-low-flow era. Ubiqitous smell in hallway of my floor. "Fitness room" consisted of 2 not fully functional exercise machines. Walking was often faster than waiting for single elevator Overall, hotel is old & needs renovation.

UWS Comfort Inn - posted on 12/27/2005

We chose this hotel because it was three blocks from my old apartment. The nieghborhood is great, but the hotel doesn't live up to its "rating" or locale. It could have been a lot cleaner and the front desk service was dismal. We wouldn't stay there again, despite its prime UWS location and cheap rates.

Don't Expect Much - posted on 11/18/2005

This hotel has a great location, if you want close proximity to Central Park! It is also within walking distance of a few coffee shops. The room was painfully small! Incredibly small! The elevator was so slow, my daughter and I often used the stairs and the ice machine was essentially inaccessible due to its location.

Great Location - posted on 07/09/2005

The room was very small. It doesn't matter unless you plan on visiting New York and staying in your room. Everything was neat and clean. The staff is very attentive and is pleased to help you. I am returning to New York in a few months and will stay here again.

didn't honor room request; no towels; one ice machine for 14 floors, one elevator ditto. Charged extra for one night despite pre-payment. Never again.

Grande Staff, Small Room - posted on 05/10/2005

The staff sure makes up for the small rooms. They were very friendly and attentive. The rooms were small, but very clean. The location is fab! These accomodations are great for a couple or single. I stayed with my mom, the room was very tiny but we were only there for sleeping. I would return again, and the price was right. We also got a senior citizen's discount.

Great bargain, clean rooms - posted on 03/30/2005

This hotel offers great service at a reasonable price. Very conveniently located in a respectable, quiet neighborhood. FREE continental breakfast. This hotel is not fancy, but is a nice place to stay for people just needing a small room with no frills.

Nice and Clean - posted on 03/25/2005

My mom and I stayed here for a couple of nights while we were in the city. The size of the room was about what you would expect for the city. It was not an amazing room but it was clean and we had a very good view of Central Park. The only problem was that the window in the bathroom would not completely close. We would definitely come and stay there again.

Decent Stay - posted on 05/03/2004

it was a good price, but the rooms were really tiny. if i had a bag to put in my room there would have been no room for it on the floor. The place was being renovated a bit, and it was a bit messy on the floors. Also, it said there was dining on the web site, but when i went to ask for a cork screw -- which ALL hotels have, there was none in the whole hotel. The location is a great one, because it is close to the park and subway.
