Wonderful retreat - posted on 05/17/2006
We stayed for four nights and found the staff not only polite but willing to help us with anything. The hotel was clean and comfortable and our room was quiet. The location is great. NY Public Library at the end of the street and Grand Central a block away, not to mention Bryant Park close by. Enjoyable experience all around.

Tiny, dark room, but adequate for a business stay. Staff was competent, but stand off-ish. The original 'chic' decor seems shabby now. Could use a face lift, or better maintenance. Housekeeping could have done a better job vacuuming the carpet. Room service "forgot" my breakfast one morning, but finally delivered it an hour late at no charge. The small bathroom needs more counter, and a more hooks for towels/robe. The hotel is surprisingly quiet for the location, and convenient for getting around. My needs were met, but I didn't leave anxious to return.
Uncomfortable room - posted on 11/20/2005
The personnel are friendly and helpful, the location is excellent. It was 35 degrees outside and our room stayed at 85+ degrees at all times. No fix for it, according to hotel. Wireless internet didn't work.

Having stayed at several different hotels in mid-town, the Dylan is quiet, free wireless that works, terrible cell reception. Everyone tries hard, but they don't quite get it right. For the price you pay, you expect better service. King rooms are huge by NYC standards. Room design has good attention to detail. Quiet AC. Very W-esque. Problem was that the AC broke down in the middle of the summer for one night, and then the hot water went off for one night. Hopefully that was temporary. No matter how cool a hotel is, they have to get the basics right.
Wonderful hotel!! - posted on 06/18/2005
Our room was really wonderful! The simple but fashionable interior , the comfortable bed & clean bath room(but no bathtub), plus the convenient location (close to Grand Central station). They are renovating their restaurant, so we ordered room service for breakfast, was very delicious.Regrettably, the room was bit too cold because of air conditioner and you can't control it. Besides that, everything was wonderful!! We would recommend!!
