Excellent experience - posted on 03/03/2006

We stayed for 2 nights in a 1 bedroom - they had a "pillow menu" with all sorts of options, which was fun. The place is very clean, with excellent amenities including an exercise room and steam room. Great location; could walk to Central Park, Shopping, The Top of the Rock and (!) Plaza, St. Patrick's, etc. Staff was friendly, food was good (but expensive). Liked it a lot!

Felt like a Princess - posted on 09/12/2005

It was my first to NYC and I took my 16 year old daughter and I met a girlfriend there with her daughter and the hotel was perfect. My daughter's uncle found and treated us with the room. It was a perfect spot for our first time stay. We felt like princesses and felt very safe for the 3 nights were there. Bed was so comfy. We had a 1 bedroom suite and it could easisly sleep 5-6. The doorman were also so sweet to us and welcomed us back from shopping every day.

We now have a destination in NYC. Booked a suite and was very comfortable. If you like stainless steel and leather stay away. If you want attmosphere and alittle of the old New York eligance stay here. Great little breakfast place several doors down the street named O'Neill"s, try it. Every staff member was friendly and helpfull.

Great, Quiet Hotel - posted on 12/02/2004

I have stayed in NYC many times, and this hotel is lovely. The staff is very courteous and helpful, the rooms were very nicely appointed, the location was perfect, and the hotel is very, very quiet. It is not the place to stay if you are looking for a night club or health club atmosphere. Will absolutely stay again.

Excellent Hotel - posted on 02/20/2007

I've stayed in several hotels in NYC and this is my new favorite. Entire hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Room was very clean and quite large by NY standards. It was also ready for us when we arrived at 10:30 AM. Only complaint would be the small bathroom, but how much time does one spend in the bathroom? I will be staying here again as soon as possible!

Simply incredible - posted on 01/18/2007

This was one of many trips to NYC, but maybe the best ever hotel and I've stayed at the Waldorf (just across the street). The lobby is small and the elevators seem a little small, but once you're in your room, it's really a small slice of paradise. One of the most comfortable beds that I've slept in. With a selection of pillows that I've never even heard of - they let you choose whatever pillow you want and bring it to you. Just a short walk to Rockefeller. Have an apple at the front desk too. It's worth every cent!

Location & Cleaningness - posted on 01/03/2007

The room was very spacious (not the norm for NYC), very clean. The staff was very eager to help, and very attentive. The location was unbeatable. The 1 bedroom suite sleeps 3 very comfortable, the kitchen is very convenient. Greal place to stay in NYC.

Location. . .Location - posted on 08/28/2006

The Benjamin takes advantage of a wonderful location. Walking distance to almost anywhere. Great diner practically next door. Great bed, large room and the staff was very helpful. You never even saw the lady that cleaned and did turn down. We loved it and were pleasantly surpised with the quality of the restaurant.

MidTowns BEST - posted on 08/17/2006

After spending several weeks doing my research on Manhattan Hotels, I'm so glad we chose The Benjamin. Only time we used the subway was to go to Ground Zero. Everything else is within walking distance. Even walked around with Donald Trump water. Hotel services are superior.

Just what we wanted! - posted on 08/09/2006

The Benjamin was all that we wanted for our stay in New York. We could walk most anywhere, but when a cab was needed the doormen were most helpful. Ice cold towels and bottled water were offered in the lobby on the hot days. The bed and pillows were wonderful. Best hotel shower I've had in a while. Very good, complimentary breakfast. Check in/out were very fast and painless. Helpful concierge.

New York with a smile - posted on 08/02/2006

We made this our second home for three days. The rooms were quiet, but all one had to do was step outside to find the hustle bustle of Lexington, 5th Ave etc. Times Square, Central Park and museums are just a hop away. The rooms were comfortable and the consierge and front desk were always quick to help.

Wow, you were right - posted on 07/23/2006

We chose this hotel based on reviews we read here and were not disappointed. Clean, quiet(had a room facing back alley but with a view of a lovely roof top garden terrace), great location(walked almost everywhere-must pack comfortable walking shoes). Pleasant, friendly, accomodating, knowlageable staff (housekeeping, concierge, front desk, bellmen, doormen). Didn't use room service - as in most hotels, it seemed pricey but Diner, just steps away, was excellant. 1st time in NYC, pleasantly surprised by whole experience. Will return and definitely stay at The Benjamin.

Good, but not excellent - posted on 05/24/2006

I enjoyed the Benjamin, but I'm admittedly baffled by some of the 5-star reviews it has received. The size of standard rooms was on the larger side of average for NYC, bathrooms were well appointed, rooms were well kept, and the location can?t be beat. The treatment by staff was adequate but not stellar -- check-in was slow (the agent needed assistance), it took 30 minutes for pillows, and room service was the pits. Cold toast and coffee, warm cut fruit, and only one mug and one set of silverware for two. Would recommend, but don?t expect the Waldorf.

Luxory, Courtesy, and Proximity - posted on 05/22/2006

My husband and I just spent our 24th anniversary there and couldn't have been more pleased! The staff was phenomenal, professional, and extremely polite and courteous. We got an upgraded room, a bottle of wine, and a platter of cheeses and fruit for just mentioning our celebration! The room was big and tastefully decorated and surprisingly quiet even though we were only on the 4th floor and facing the Lexington Ave. Location is perfect. Within walking distance to the popular spots. Can't wait to return! You will not be disappointed if you stay at The Benjamin!

Walk Everywhere - posted on 04/22/2006

The staff at The Benjamin Hotel was outstanding, from the doormen to the front desk staff to housekeeping. The location was centrally located for the shopper/theatre visitor. The only tiny complaint was that the room was oddly laid out and a little small because of the configuration. However, I would certainly highly recommend this quiet, A+ hotel.

The Benjamin, an Oasis in New York City - posted on 04/22/2006

Enter The Benjamin's high ceilied, marble lobby, decorated with fresh flowers. All of the staff were kind and helpful. The suites, clean and comfortable, give everyone the privacy they need. We had our choice of pillows from a wide variety offered. For our in-room breakfast, the pancakes were crisp around the edges, just the way I make them at home. The bacon was meaty with very little fat. I arranged for a massage. It was one of the best I have ever had! I felt like I was in Bali in the middle of New York!

Great Stay - posted on 04/07/2006

I loved everything about this hotel. From the lobby to my room. The food was great and the service was more than we expected. The only suggestion I have for anyone staying there is to request a higher floor. The noise can be a little much.

Perfect small hotel in NYC - posted on 11/29/2005

This is a quite well appointed and managed hotel. It is charming and the staff is really on the ball. It is very like a smaller efficient and elegant European hotel. The restaurnt can be depended on as well. Bravo for the Benjamin. First rate.

Honking at the Benjamim - posted on 09/14/2005

This was a nice hotel with a good location in mid-town Manhattan. Our biggest problem was the street construction and horn honking from midnight to 4am. We were given a room on the third floor directly facing the street, and I feel that the front desk staff should have been aware of this and assigned a better located room. Not paying attention to details, as they tout in their feedback survey.

Excellent Stay - posted on 06/02/2005

This hotel was excellent when it came to the service it provided to the guests. Everyone, from the bellman to concierge were very attentive when it came to getting special items and making reservations. The room sizes were great, having managed to fit 7 people comfortably in the living room. The only complaint I had was the shower head was not working properly and thus the bathroom floor would become flooded... but whatever, I could live with it. Overall this was a great hotel, and I definitely would travel back here again.

Great Weekend Getaway - posted on 03/07/2005

I have always wanted a pied-a-terre in New York. The Benjamin Hotel is close to that. Even though I only live 22 miles from the Hotel it is nice to feel like a VIP from the minute you walk in to the minute you check out. From custom pillows to complimentary shoe shine and Sunday Times, this place is phenomenal. The rooms are like a 1 bedroom apt. with a small kitchenette and microwave. Will definitely return several more times this year.
