Don't be deceived by the exterior of the hotel and the immediate surroundings. The room was very comfortable and spacious. The staff is excellent--friendly, polite, helpful. The hotel is not quite in "the heart of it all" but close enough.

Stayed here for our honeymoon and was not disapointed. Rooms are very big and nicely appointed. And if you are lucky enough to get the view of the empire state building get it! Staff was always helpful and went out of there way. Location is a plus, only one block from station. We will surely stay here again and will recommend to all our friends.
Great Ladies Weekend! - posted on 03/23/2007
A group of 50 ladies stayed at this hotel. It was most of our first time in NY, We had a blast! The hotel staff was very accommodating. The concierge was always helpful, even hailed a cab for us at 4am when we were going to the Today Show. I would stay again. Walking distance to everthing. Thanks, Broadway Plaza!

Our room was very spacious, clean and tastefully decorated. The only improvement would be to have one or two comfortable chairs in the room, and there certainly was space to allow for this. Staff were friendly, helpful and courteous. The location seems a bit "seedy," but once you get past that, it is okay and is not bad for getting to other areas of interest--easy subway and bus access. Very small lobby, but who cares, you don't spend much time there.

I was so impressed with Broadway Plaza Hotel I have never been to New York and did not know what to expect but I was pleasently suprised with a hotel that was at a great location, Wondeful service and extremely large Hotel Rooms. I was so excited to have the Empire State Building right outside my window.

4 women traveled to this hotel from GA - made Atlanta look great after dark. Store fronts were covered with steel doors. Elevator didn't work - walked five flights of stairs in a narrow wooden stairwell to find that the room keys didn't work either. Ready to go home -until the next morning when everything came alive! Wholesale shopping at it's best! For the $ you can't beat it. Always felt safe despite intial impression at dark.

I got this hotel because of the location and price combination everything else in that area is alot more expensive. I just needed a place to sleep since when in new york I dont really spend much time in my hotel anyways. when I got to my room I was so surprised the beds were very comfortable the room was impecably clean, the staff was wonderful I will be going to new york and I will be staying here again.

This is an old hotel that features large, clean rooms and a pleasant, helpful staff. Don't be put off by the location or outside appearance. Never felt unsafe in neighborhood. Easy access to subway, which we used alot. Just a short cab ride to theaters or downtown. I will stay there again.

Broadway Plaza - posted on 11/22/2006
This was a great hotel. Our first impression from the outside The street was dark and not much going on around the immediate area. The check in was painless and the staff very helpful and treated us like family. Our first night we walked down to Times Square and felt perfectly safe everywhere we went. Everything we wanted to see and do was a short cab ride away or depending on how energetic we were, within walking distance. We would definately stay there again. Our room for 3 of us was very spacious with 1 king bed and a double bed arranged so there was abit of privacy.

Extremely courteous, helpful & friendly staff. Location isn't bad just off subway stop not walking distance to anything. The neighborhood is a bit sketchy but we never had any problems. Rooms are clean and decent size. Hotel has no lobby to speak of. I was expecting more for the price.

I agree with the other reviews regarding the exterior of the hotel. When our shuttle bus dropped us off, We didn't even realize we were at the hotel because it just looks thrown in between other stores! However, the staff at the front desk was extremely friendly and helpful. The concierge was also very helpful and courteous. He always gave us very useful information, and directions to everything. The rooms are a good size and very clean. I felt very comfortable, and would stay again.
A Wonderful Stay - posted on 09/25/2006
Had a great time in NY. Stayed for 10 days. Was a little concerned that we made a bad choice because of the dark night location but the next morning, we were in the middle of the wholsale jewelery district. Wow! The rooms were clean and large for NY. Everything had been updated recently except for the beds. The mattresses were old but it didn't stop me from getting a good nights sleep. Great location. Within walking distance of many attractions and subway stations. Came for business and stayed over the weekend for pleasure.

The neighborhood was not as sketchy as everyone makes it out to be. It?s just a bunch of people selling bootlegged movies and knockoff purses, but we never felt unsafe. We arrived early in the morning, and the hotel watched our bags while we explored the city. The room was clean and big enough. We traveled with another couple, and the hotel arranged for our rooms to be next to each other. The neighborhood was completely empty after dark, and we felt safe walking back from the subway. Overall, we were very satisfied for what we paid.

The Broadway Plaza is everything past respondants said. It is offered a very clean and good size room. The service is excellent and the continental breakfast was sufficient. It is close to everything in Manhattan, as well as the subway. We were very pleased and will use it again. As others say, don't let the small exterior fool you.

Room was ready when we got there. Continental breakfast room was Very small and so is the selection for breakfast (bagels and donuts) There is a small microwave, toaster and coffee available 24/7. Overall nice place for the price. Staff very accomodating. Close to subway...once you get it figured out!!

This hotel is deceiving from the outside, especially after business hours. Once inside you'll be pleased with the large, cheerful and very clean rooms. Bathroom was especially well maintained. The staff at this hotel was freindly and very helpful. I went with my family and had a great experience. Hotel is within walking distance of Times Square or a $5 cab ride. Nice continental breakfast. Will definately stay here again.

The Broadway Plaza is a great place to stay considering the room for a king was only $* per night in Manhattan. Rooms were clean, spacious, and plenty of amenities. Service was very helpful. The street noise is a little bothersome in the early evening, but I would recommend it to anyone and would definitely stay there again.

Well, my cousin and I had just travelled through Europe for 5 weeks and anyone that complains about this hotel, has rocks in their head!!!.... The room size at the Broadway Plaza is HUGE! Most of our European hotels were shoe boxes! I would recommend this hotel to the enthusiastic sightseeing individuals. The location is great, but yes, a little dirty in the surrounding 2 blocks...but thats nothing a Starbucks coffee (around the corner) can't fix!! :) The staff were great and helpful with all our questions....even though we stupid Aussies don't know when to tip!
Safe, Convenient & Classy - posted on 02/27/2006
Like so many other reviews here, I was impressed with the large size of the rooms considering it *was* Manhattan. The neighbourhood seems sketchy at first, but clears out in the evening. We never once felt unsafe or uncomfortable. We did have to keep asking for more towels b/c we had a party of 4. Hotel recommended shuttle service to airport--was expensive & not worth the $40---take taxi instead though they will insist.
What a Bargain! - posted on 02/26/2006
It is hard to find a good deal in NY, but we were very happy with this hotel. I might have been the only person there over 25, but I appreciated a quiet, clean room, courteous service, and a no frills approach to NY. You may not love the block this hotel is located on, but it is an excellent jumping off point for Greenwich Village, SoHo,& the theater district. I'd definitely return.

Although you may be a little concern about some intimidating street sellers on the hotel block, not even one time my wife and I felt danger, and it?s because of its location that this hotel is a great value. Just a few blocks from Herald Square (34th St.), also from Madison Square (23rd St. I believe), and les than 1 block from metro station (28th street and Broadway, red line) it?s at walking distance from any point in Manhattan. Service is great; rooms are clean and spacious so you?ll feel at home. Room service works fine, rooms are cleaned every day. Breakfast could be better.

Large Rooms & Great Location - posted on 01/23/2006
Garment district neighborhood seems a bit sketchy at first, but it's safe. Great location in the heart of the city. Continental breakfast includes fresh bagels, juice and coffee. Rooms are large (we fit 4 people & their luggage) comfortably and didn't feel crowded. Bathroom is good sized. Mattresses in our room were not very comfortable. View of Empire State Building was fantastic! Friendly staff. Shops nearby for shopping (costume jewelry, designer knock-off purses, NYC t-shirts, etc.) Several take-out restaurants & Starbucks are within 1-2 block walking distance along 5th Ave.

very surprised at the high level of service. We were able to leave our bags all day after checkout. They also arranged a great car service to get us back to the airport.
Comfortable rooms, great price. - posted on 01/05/2006
About a 1/2 block perimeter around the hotel made me a little nervous the first time I walked it, but I got used to it and felt at ease with the location for the rest of my vacation. The breakfast area is very tiny, but the coffee, pastries, and rolls are fresh. As long as you get there by 7am- breakfast will be great, otherwise you'll have to take your food and go! The rooms and service are great. I will stay here again.
Nice, But... - posted on 12/22/2005
he neighborhood could use a serious law enforcement presence. The Central Parking contractor for this hotel is inconveniently 3 blocks away. Room service is used by calling a local number that is charged to you as such. The contracted restaurant for room service which is known as "scotties" is 15 blocks away and food always arrives late. The room is comfortable though. and the "continental breakfast" fills the definition adequately.
Nice! But..... - posted on 12/18/2005
Stayed there overnight. "Continental Breakfast" fulfills definition adequately. Good security in a poor neighborhood (requires better law enforcement presence!). Rooms very comfortable with soft beds. Room service poor with affiliated "Scotties Restaurant." Food is good however but take too long. Here's the catch...you have to dial the local room service number which is a local call that is charged to your room as such(WTF?!?). Would I go again? perhaps not with my children.

Impressed - posted on 11/23/2005
I went to this hotel kind of expecting the worse because of the price but it was great. the room was very large and clean for NYC (even our friends that saw it from other hotels said so). The service people were also great. There was even I time that I had to call them from a taxi to go turn my curling iron off! Very nice people. The only thing I didnt like is the windows and a/c unit need to be insulated more because our alarm clock was car horns in the A.M. Also it would be nice if they put full length mirrors in the rooms. Otherwise, everything was wonderful!!

My boyfriend and I went here to spend our 2 year anniversary and it was amazing. We only stayed for a night, but the staff was generous and parking was available nearby for $25 a day. The rooms were not too big, but definitely cozy. If you want a nice hotel but dont want to spend a lot of money, this is the place for you!
Nice Room, Nice Price - posted on 08/28/2005
As noted in previous reviews, the locale of the hotel is not optimal. It's in a very industrial section of the city, but not scary at all. It is NYC!! The rooms are definitely large for the price. The hotel is centrally located. And best of all, it was very clean. Kudos to the evening doorman---great person for this job, helpful and cheerful.

Fabulous Week - posted on 05/24/2005
On this trip we stayed for a week. Compared to other hotels we have stayed at in NYC, the room was huge! Since we were there so long, it was nice to have space to move around in our room! The staff was superb. The sign outside is very small and you almost miss the hotel, but it is definitely a diamond!

I only live 3 hours away, but next time I spend the night in the city this is where I'll be staying. Plus, I had a wonderful view of the Empire State Building right outside my window!!
OK HOTEL - posted on 03/04/2005
The hotel was OK, but I really did not like the area. I've stayed in NY over 100 times, this was my least favorite hotel. The rooms were clean and spacious, but the surrounding area questionable. You have grafitti and loud vendors at your doorstep. For the price I recommend another hotel.

Everything But Breakfast! - posted on 10/18/2004
The breakfast room is tiny, poorly layed out, tables and chairs in the way, surly staff and - surprisingly - obnoxious and pushy European visitors in the morning while trying to put together a continental breakfast. Skip the "free" food and go down to the corner (next door to the hotel) where they serve a good breakfast at a reasonable price!
