Hotel was decent.. nothing spectacular.. the pictures of the hotel make it look much nicer than it actually is.. beware of the "shared bathrooms."
Worst Hotel Experience - posted on 02/15/2007
When we checked-in, the clerk acted as if we were bothering him. The hotel was misleading. It was NOT a two bedroom suite. It was more of a one bedroom and a living room with a bed in it. We were placed in a smoking room even though we requested non-smoking. There were four of us in the room with only two towels and washcloths. We had to call EVERYDAY (four days) to request additional towels. The toilet was not working properly one day and called to have it fixed. It was fixed over an hour and a half later.

Best Value in NYC - posted on 02/14/2007
We've stayed at a lot of NYC Hotels, and this has been the best value to date. The Superior King looks out over Broadway and is HUGE for a NYC hotel. Windows need replaced, though.

I took a trip with my sister to NYC for the first time in July. The Hotel Belleclaire provided the absolute best that we could hope for on our budget. Subway terminal located just 2 block from the hotel. Well within walking distance to Lincoln Square and Central Park. Since it's in a neighborhood area it's got all types of shops and dinners. The other big perk is that it's close to grocery stores and pharmacies in case you left something. I will be visiting the city again in May and i'm definatly booking here again. Would and will recommend to anyone.

Overall the hotel was nice (convenient location) however we found that we had to wait for a long period of time for the (very small) elevators to reach our floor. We ended up taking the stairs - not that it was a hardship but still a point to be made. We did become disappointed when we found a cockroach in our room however.
Not sure if I'd return - posted on 09/17/2006
If you're expecting more room, the family suite is not much of a bargain - but there is a private bath of a decent size. The staff seemed disinterested and our neighbor, who seemed to be a permanent resident had a habit of slamming doors multiple times at 3am. The elevators were tiny and hot. The bedding was comfortable and the room was clean. We had a few minor problems but the housekeeping/maintenance guy was responsive when we called. The location was decent so for the right price, I would probably stay there again.
Good Service - posted on 08/09/2006
We went to NYC for a broadway show and a concert. The hotel was very close to the Subway and we were able to get Taxi's within seconds. The hotel had great room service and 24 hour food delivery. We had a very small room where we shared a bathroom with 2 others rooms. This was fine and we hardly had to ever wait. The only problem encountered was thin walls where you could hear everything in the halIs. Other than that the hotel was nice and the front desk crew were very helpful with all of our needs. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wishes to save some money when visiting NYC!
Certainly a Good Buy - posted on 07/19/2006
This hotel, for the price we paid, offers excellent location-only 2 blocks from the subway. We used economy and shared a bathroom and never encountered a conflict. The room service was excellent and the front desk, as well as concierge, very helpful. Only a few blocks to Central Park and many good dining experiences very close by.
happy in NYC - posted on 07/15/2006
I felt like after one day I had mastered the area around me and I felt very safe. I liked that there was a door man most of the time. It was right where I wanted to be and I liked that it was a bit older.
good for the price - posted on 07/04/2006
The hotel is quite nice. It is on the upper west side and close to the Natural History Museum and Central Park and walking distance to Midtown. The hotel was clean and the staff were very friendly. The bed sheets were very uncomfortable and the television made a funny buzzing sound.

Lower priced rooms have to share a bathroom. Thought this was for 3 rooms located behind a security door, but it turned out to be multiple rooms. Can be bad for needing the toilet first thing. Otherwise the rooms was adequate. Good beds and plenty of towels and toiletries. Staff were very accommodating and friendly
Dissappointed - posted on 06/07/2006
We were very disaapointed with this hotel. We didn't go in with too high expectations since it was rated three stars, but it seriously did not even deserve that! The elevators were so small that only four people could fit in them (and that was even pretty tight), the hallways had no air circulating and were very hot, and the front desk employees had no clue about information on the hotel itself. The "concierge" office opened whenever it was convienent for someone to show up. New York City was great, but I would definitely not recommend staying at this hotel.
Great Service - posted on 05/09/2006
The service was Great!. They provided us with extra pillows, bath essentials and a pot to boil water for coffee. No Coffee maker in the room.
comfortable, convenient, affordable - posted on 04/17/2006
My daughter and I stayed at the Belleclaire April 9-13. We found it to be just what we needed. A clean and convenient place to sleep after a full day of sightseeing and shopping. Don't expect anything fancy. The hotel does a good job of providing the essentials. Comfortable clean rooms and baths. We did not feel inconvenienced by sharing a bath. The place is older so it's a bid worn kind of like your favorite old chair.
Bare essentials - posted on 04/14/2006
Two rooms, two comfortable beds with excellent linens and towels. A working fridge and TV. A desk and chair and nothing else. The bare essentials done well. Good value for NYC.

When we stayed at Belleclaire it was undergoing some rehab, but we found the rooms to be very bright, clean, and comfortable. We had no problems, and felt that for the reasonable price, it was quite fine. And you can't beat the location. We'll be staying there again in '06 during our NYC visit.
Good location - posted on 09/17/2005
Good value for the location, but the room lacked storage space. Only one tiny chest of drawers and a small shelf in the bathroom. Lighting in the bathroom was horrible: couldn't see to shave or apply makeup. Only one chair in the room. We had to ask on three separate occasions for clean towels and drinking cups. Not sure we'd stay there again.
