GREAT FIRST IMPRESSION - posted on 05/05/2007
It was our first trip to New York and the Tribeca Grand was the perfect hotel for our stay. The staff was amazing. Our first night there I got a free birthday drink from the bartender. Our room was cleaned and straightened daily and the radio set to our music, so when we got back after an exhausting day of shopping we could relax immediately. EVERY request was met right away and with a smile. The location was GREAT and has a tavern across the street that has great food and atmosphere. Would DEFINATELY stay again. Can;'t wait to go back!!

This hotel definitely appeals to a younger crowd with an active bar in the atrium and a rack of indie-pop CDs in each room. The room also has a Bose Wave stereo and a "white-noise" generator to mask the noise coming from the bar. The movie theater in the basement is interesting, but easy to miss. Gym is decent and modern. Staff was helpful including the concierge. Be sure to ask for a goldfish for your room when you check-in.

The rooms are fairly comfortable although they are too dark for my taste and there aren't enough blankets. There's a Bose stereo system and TV in the bathroom and you can even rent iPods, which is rather cool. That said, I would have expected service levels to be more consistent - some staff members were incredibly responsive while others wouldn't give me the time of day! Great location to visit restaurants and neighborhood hangouts in lower Manhattan but you might have to demand service if you don't get it the first time.
