Lobby area, though small, had lovely period details. Room was larger than expected for a Manhattan hotel, but a few details needed attention: toilet did not shut off promptly after flushing, one curtain hook was missing so it hung askew. However, the location on the Upper West Side was convenient (via subway) to the places my teen-age daughter and I were planning to visit.
Staff resolved reservation problem even when corporate would not.
Non-smoking room still had residual odor of stale smoke.

It was clean, neat, comfortable, conveniently located and the staff was polite and efficient. I would recommend the day?s hotel to friends and I would stay there again.

The elevator was slow, crowded and not kept up to the quality of the rest of the hotel.

The hotel was in a great location, quiet and overall comfortable. However, the furnishings in our room are very old and need to be updated. The price was a bit high for the quality-even in New York. I would have been fine with the price had the quality of the room been a bit better. It is an old building but it worked fine for us. We (two young females) always felt safe and loved the fact that the Subway was right there. The staff was very attentive and fast with solving problems.
Close to Subway, Safe, Quiet, Comfortable.
Price was high for quality, beds sagged badly, old furnishings.
