I was delighted with everything about the hotel itself... the rooms and services are just terrific.
Clean, friendly, efficient - posted on 02/26/2007
Stayed there over a weekend - great value for clean, efficient hotel. Stafff was very helpful. Location IS quiet at night, but we preferred that when we decided day's sightseeing was over. Internet access avaiable for free on public terminals on 2nd floor. Only had b'fast once in the resturant, and would not bother going to the resturant again.

As a frequent traveler I didn't expect anything special from this Reservation either. Wrong! From the reception desk to the tasteful 'romantic' room and bathroom, (computer, paper clips, white-out on the desk ... a piece of chocolate on the bed) ... I wished I could have stayed here longer. A GREAT place both for a romantic weekend get-a-way or the business traveler on a marketing tour .. if you can ignore the garbage bags piled up in the streets when you come 'home' late ... the best in value I have found in NYC in a long time. Hope it remains a secret!

Hotel staff extremely helpful and friendly. Close to many sights in lower Manhattan. Definitely a business hotel, but being there on leisure was wonderful. Restaurant staff needs help in friendliness.

I could not have been more pleased with this hotel. It was easy to find, a short walk to lower Manhattan, China Town, and Little Italy. Service was great and the room was beautiful! I will definately stay here again if I'm ever back in NYC!
Good location for business travellers - posted on 07/28/2006
Large room by NY standards. Very clean. Excellent customer service, except for restaurant; staff appeared inexperienced. Try the patisserie 2 blocks southwest of hotel. Starbucks at corner. Subway a few blocks away.
Exceeded Expectations - posted on 07/07/2006
This hotel exceeded my expectations in every way. It was unbelievably clean and very quiet. We encountered nothing but friendly, helpful service from everyone at the front desk as well as the housekeeping staff. The location was so much better than I realized: three blocks to South Street Seaport, close to Brooklyn Bridge, and only blocks in the other direction to Ground Zero. It was convenient to bus tours, boat tours, as well as the subway. Safe area also... A+ choice!!!
a great choice - posted on 06/22/2006
Will use agian, advise to check weekend subway disruptions in advance of your trip.
Nice hotel - posted on 05/29/2006
Great location near South Street Seaport, Wall Street, Ground Zero, Brooklyn Bridge, Pace University. Hard to find because streets are narrow and somewhat difficult to travel, but for NY it's a very nice place to stay. Rooms only accommodate up to two people so not good for families.

Moderately priced New York hotel - posted on 11/24/2005
I booked this hotel originally on price and the fact it was a well known brand. I found the location better than I expected, though the Financial District is deserted late nights and weekends. Rooms are gloomy as other reviewers say but this is not uncommon in Manhattan. Overall, for the price this hotel offers good value for money.
Great Hotel - posted on 08/02/2005
Great hotel, excellent, friendly staff, awful restaurant. Don't bother with the food inside the hotel. The service is dismal and the food is no better. This hotel is hard (even for cabbies). The address is misleading: The hotel is actually on Platt Street, not on Wall Street or on Gold Street. Take a map with you and look for Platt Street - that is the street the hotel entrance actually faces.
Moderately priced hotel good downtown location - posted on 06/24/2005
Clean but small and very dark room. Lobby is ok, but room decor is beyond unflattering and toward bizarre. Good location for business and downtown appts. Room service food was surprisingly good quality. Friendly and helpful staff can't quite overcome the feeling of claustrophobia here. You'll find yourself hunching your shoulders as you walk down the hallways. Adequate, affordable if somewhat gloomy accomodations.
