we often stay at the Edison due to the Times Square convenient location--the hotel is relatively clean but rooms are small and bathroom is extremely small

We had to wait 2 hours just to store our luggage after checkout.
Our Stay at The Edison - posted on 10/23/2006
Edison Hotel gets a bad review by some people, My wife & i stayed there in october . We found the hotel ok for a short stay ,The first room was a bit small , so we asked for another , which we got without a problem. This room was a lot bigger & fresher. The service was ok. We would stay there again.. It has about the best location in New York for the money.

Rooms are small, a/c doesn't work good, no ice machines or hair dryers; staff unfriendly and not helpful; rooms are dingy.

The location is great, it's right in the middle of times square. The furniture (specially the bed) could use some upgrading but the price makes up for it. Good bargain for NYC.

Rooms dark, dreary, very small; front desk staff extremely unhelpful; very disappointed. If you are looking to relax this is definitely not your place.

Although the location is fantastic, the hotel is in need of major help. Small, smelly, and unatractive rooms make for a pretty unenjoyable stay. As for the hotel? The dirty hallways are an eyesore, as is the lobby. The cafe was pretty good, though. PLEASE STAY ELSEWHERE WHEN IN NYC!
Great Location - posted on 04/17/2006
Stayed 5 nights. Saw 4 shows and the Opera and never had to take a cab. Clean, good service, comfortable bed. Spend the money you save on other attractions. If you want to spend all day in your room watching TV, this is not the place. If you want a great location and a place to sleep with no one to hassle you, this is it. If there are more than one of you, it is probably better to take a cab than the shuttle from and to the airports. We will stay here again.

The hotel was very convenient to the theatres and Times Square area where we wanted to explore, and the rooms were clean and beds comfortable. The service was good, although the heat inconsistent. I would recommend staying there, and I will go back.
Great way to feel the City! - posted on 09/19/2005
More than just a great bargain deal, but also a great way to experience NYC. Rooms and bathrooms are tiny, but altogether satisfactory. Everybody is refreshingly kind! The Cafe Edison downstairs is a perfect diner for breakfast, plus there are many 24-hour dining alternatives very close by. And regardless of what you're planning on doing, the Hotel Edison's location is mind-blowingly superb!!!

Based on the 4 star hotel that my friends stayed at we got a pretty good deal. The Edison is listed as a two star hotel, but I was expecting more, even for the price we got . We were only there a few days, so it was adequate. Neg's - no ice machines, small bathroom, a/c didn't work very well. Pos's - location, friendly helpful staff.
awesome location is a great city! - posted on 08/20/2005
My best friend and I went for 4 days and it was the best place to stay. It has an awesome vibe but note that the picture of the outside is decieving. The hotel is literally in times square. The rooms are on the small side but it doesn't matter because there is sooo much to do you are never there. Close to subway station, great water pressure in shower(better than home!), friendly people, clean rooms, walking distance to all the theaters, everything we could have asked for and more! Definetly will return!

not so happy with the edison - posted on 08/12/2005
My usual hotel was booked so I tried my luck at the Edison. What can you expect from the Edison? Dirty stained carpet fraying at the edges, peeling paint and wall paper, exposed wires, rusty pipes , worn out matresses and bed covers. No coffee maker, hair dryer, or iron. Some of the staff not so prof. In the future I will be staying at my usual hotel where I get a clean room, hair dryer, coffee maker, iron, refrig., microwave, great staff and believe it or not for under $200 a night. Stay at the Edison if you dare but don't look at the wallpaper in the hall ways!

I was expecting two double beds, but found two twins. We were able to get a cot squished in. Awesome deli next door, everything was comfortable. Not totally fancy, but clean and tidy.
Best Location for the Best Price - posted on 07/16/2005
This hotel offers the best location and best pricing for NYC. They offer convenient valet parking (for a fee) but once you check-in you don't have to bother with your vehicle until check-out.
Great Location! - posted on 07/05/2005
The hotel is located right on Times Square - Exciting for my daughter and me! The room was small but clean. Great location for spending little time in the hotel, sight-seeing. Check-in seemed inefficient, but staff were friendly & accommodating.
