The Gramercy Park Hotel is a boutique establishment owned by famous hotelier Ian Schrager. As such, it is full of art, style and fashion - a beautiful setting for those in the know. Located near Baruch College and Park Avenue between 21st and 22nd Streets, it's across town from the Fashion Institute of Technology. The funky, hip Union Square district is nearby, full of shops and clubs. Directly across town is Chelsea, a mecca of gay and lesbian culture on the eastern seaboard of the United States. You're also close the 14th Street's Meatpacking District, which houses the best of the best nightclubs and lounges. For dining, there's the Private Roof Club and Bar; the Wakiya restaurant is undergoing massive renovations as of this writing in early 2009. The high-performance Aerospace Gym is available for guest use, and there's the lovely Aerospa for relaxation treatments.

This hotel is great for the hip, laid-back traveler who likes trendy, fun staff and cutting edge decor. However, the rooms can run small, and there might be the feeling that you're not getting full value for the money sometimes. The Rose Bar and its patrons can seem snobby and exclusive, so people wanting a more laid back environment may want to take a cab somewhere else. Families with children will be happy with this hotel, since they do offer special treats and things for kids. However, this might not be the place for swinging singles.
