First Time to NYC - posted on 04/27/2007

Pros: Excellent Location, Extremely helpful and friendly staff, Comfy beds. Cons: VERY SMALL ROOMS!!! Paper thin walls (can hear everything), tiny bathroom with paint peeling off ceiling above tub/shower. We had 2 adults and 2 children on our trip. We had to crawl over one of the beds to get to the bathroom and out the door. There is a useless built in desk that gets in the way of looking out the window (have to crawl up and sit on it to look outside). Charge way too much money for that tiny of a room. Television was fuzzy. Called front desk and it was fixed immediately.

Only One Complaint - posted on 04/27/2007

The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The location was absolutely perfect - best part of the hotel!!!! My only complaint is the size of the room. We had 2 adults and 2 kids. You had to crawl over one of the beds to get to the bathroom and out the door. VERY SMALL room! Nowhere to put suitcases on floor without stepping on them. Charge way too much money for a room that small. The beds are comfortable though. Paint was peeling off the ceiling in the tiny bathroom above the tub/shower.

This hotel has a fabulous location. Stay in a Club Level room. Gives you access to the Club Level lounge with free continental breakfast, evening appetizers (enough for a light supper - ex. mini beef wellingtons, egg rolls, veggies, assorted cheeses & cookies) and free sodas. Ask for a tray and you can take it up to your room - morning or evening. You can also access a free internet terminal in the lounge. My only problem was chasing down a package sent to me in the business center. Otherwise service was stellar.

All the bad reviews were true - posted on 04/09/2007

I read through the reviews before booking this hotel. The only reason I did book it was the price. The location not that good. Wasn't fun walking 10 blocks in the cold to get to the places we wanted to go. The walls are paper thin and you hear EVERYTHING. Not to mention they overbooked and instead of the king my husband and I wanted we got to doubles. The doubles would not have fit us both comfortably.

Hotel was great. The location was perfect, so close to all major attractions and subway. The beds were very comfy after long days. The plumbing backed up in our bathtub, but the maintenance staff responded quickly and resolved the situation. The lobby is bustling and fun too. Don't visit Libby's diner next door....too expensive, plain food.

Disappointed - posted on 03/01/2007

Had high expecations after reading the traveler reviews but was ultimately disappointed. Although the location was great and the service was good the room was uncomfortablly warm and the controls were not working properly. Also was given a handicapped accessible room when this wasn't requested. Had to call quest services to find out how to lower shades. The bathroom smelled of cigarette smoke and the view was not very nice. Concierge service was very good. They recommended Remi's around the corner for dinner. It was great. I will try another hotel next time.

Poor planning welcomes you when you get out of the taxi and have to drag your suitcases up stairs to enter the hotel. The room was very dirty--of what we could see--who knows what we could not. We had to pay three dollars for each bag we wanted stored the day we left. Overall--needs improvement.

We stayed at the Sheraton Towers for 6 nights, the week before Thanksgiving. Great service by front desk, housekeeping, bellmen, everyone! Room service is fast & food very good. Rooms are small, but average for NYC. We had two queens & a roll away and still room for lots of luggage, plus added shopping bags! Close to the theater district, Radio City, lots of dining, a short walk or subway to Times Square. We'll definitely be back to the Sheraton, hopefully soon!

Sheraton must improve - posted on 12/06/2006

The Sheraton needs major improvements in its AC system. We had to sleep with the windows open because they could not turn the heat off and the a/c on. The room service was poor with no garbage emptied in 4 days. Service by its employees was non-exsistent. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

We asked for and received a mini-fridge at no extra cost. The room was very WARM, so we had to get someone up to the room to open the window for us. Luckily, I brought a small electric fan with me on the plane. The furniture in the room could use some updating by adding drawers. We had 3 ladies sharing the room and we would have loved to have put all the suitcases away. The wait for the elevators was long, unless we pushed both the up and down buttons. The location is perfect, far enough away from Times Square to eliminate that noise but close enough to walk to the theater.

Good choice! - posted on 09/19/2006

Loved the hotel: comfortable room, a little bigger than expected, and the location in the Theatre District is very convenient. Friendly staff, too. Check-in was a mess: the rooms weren't ready, and we were initally told that we had to take a king instead of the two doubles that I had booked for my wife, adult son, and myself. In the end, though, the manager made everything right (about 5 p.m.) and we got our two-double-beds room. Overall, I'd stay there again, without any qualms.

The Sheraton NY Hotel and Towers was a pretty decent place. The conceirge staff was very helpful, the rooms were a decent size (king), the lobby is nice and always active. Room service is too expensive and the hallways need to be updated badly! They are very dark and dreary. I was nervous about the room after stepping off of the elevator, but the room was nice.Other than the dreary halls and the expensive room service, the hotel was a great place to stay!

This hotel is close to all the New York hot spots - Times Square, Central Park, Trolley Tours, Bryant Park, 5th Ave, etc.Hotel has 1700 rooms and is very busy at check in and lobby, etc. Rooms are extremely small with a family of 4 - not much room other than the 2 beds. Hotel is a bit dated inside the rooms and, while clean, was not sparkling. Would stay here again if necessary but probably would look around for other options.

Where else can you stay? - posted on 07/20/2006

I have stayed at this hotel at least a dozen times. The only reason that I go back is the location. Every visit has some problem or many problems: lack of heat/air, rude employees, dirty rooms, incompetent business center staff, overcharges on your bill, barely functioning TV, 20-30 minute wait to check in, no answer when you call the front desk, and most of all, NOISE. I always consider staying somewhere else because I hate these things, and I end up staying there for the location. Frustrating!

There was a problem with the tub drain, but it was fixed immediately after calling the desk. Housekeeping did a great job. We especially liked the library bar in the lobby. Quiet and classy. Disappointed they didn't have a pool, but overall very satisfied with the hotel. Would definitely stay there again.

Room was small, but that's what you expect in New York. The decor was not very elegant, the colors of the walls, bedspread, and furnishings were mismatched. Tiny bathroom, cheap amenities, tub was severely clogged and I don't think housekeeping cleaned the tub out every day. Small stains on bathroom floor. Concierge, front desk, and bellmen very pleasant anfd helpful, but the housekeeping and security staff were not very friendly. Clean, comfortable bed. It's a Sheraton, so I wasn't expecting luxury. Overall, a pretty good experience.

The hotel is in a great location. Our hotel room had a broken safe we could not get repaired. The hotel was unable to put us in another room so we had to use the safe in the lobby area. This was inconvenient as we had numerous items we wanted to store and have easy access to. It seems we always get a view of a cooling tower or something like this. This trip was on exception. However, the room was very clean and the staff was very nice.

The staff was friendly, helpful and curteous. Dinner at Russo's (the hotel restaurant) was fabulous but expensive. Portions were generous. Breakfast was frightfully overpriced. I recommend walking a few blocks and finding something more reasonable. My husband and I felt safe here. Would I stay here again? Probably.

Great location in the Theater District. The bed in the Sheraton Hotel and Tower was extremely comfortable. We There are many nice restaurants and shops near by. Additionally, there is a subway stop right next to the Hotel. The only negative was the noise from the hallway was loud. You can hear everything that goes on or is said in the hallway. Our first trip to the Big Apple - posted on 04/19/2006

The Sheraton New York Hotel and Towers was in the best possible location to suite our needs. It is located in between Central Park and Times Square, maybe about 6-8 blocks from each. It's also just a street away from Broadway. The guest rooms could have been a little larger and the bathroom desperately needed an exhaust fan. Every time we showered, the whole room got very hot and humid. But that was a minor downfall, considering everything else was great.

The manager's only response to the problem was to tell me next time she would make sure I had a cleaner room. The Food was good but VERY EXPENSIVE. It had an overall feeling of being worn down and dirty. I will definitely stay somewhere else (especially for the money) next time.

The location of our hotel was great, and the convenience of certain things like ease getting cabs, and the parking process were very good. The only place my husband and I ran into trouble was with the room temperature. Admittedly, it was a warm weekend for the time of year so it may have thrown things off in the rooms, but it was really warm in there - on Christmas night it was literally too hot to sleep! We had to call building maintenance to unlock a window. We did realize it was probably a fluke, and agreed that because everything else was so good we'd probably stay there again.

We asked for extra hangers, a fan and assist with the less than cool air conditioning. The person on the phone always said yes. They NEVER showed up. Had to ask the Concierge for hangers and a fan. The next day, the Concierge wasn't even there. Said he was on a "break or something". Room was good size and did get 2 beds as requested. For the price, I am sure we can do better elsewhere next time.

Good choice - posted on 09/27/2005

1st time visitors to NY (4 ladies). Picked hotel because of review and was not disappointed. Room was clean and surprisingly quiet. Rarely heard any hall noice. Beds are excellent. Requests for extra towels were handled promptly. Liked location. Easy walk to Times Square, theater and 5th Ave. Subways close too. Would easily recommend to anyone looking for a hotel.

Our family had a great time and found the hotel location and amenities perfect. We will stay here again when in New York.

I heart NY - posted on 08/14/2005

I am a so. Ca. artist and have been to numerous art receptions at beautuiful locations all over the country. I had the best time and the People of NY are the friendliest people You will ever want to meet. We stayed in Manhattan and had the easiest access to all the best Restaurants, Shows and of course the arts (Chelsea, etc.) My entire family thoroughly enjoyed our entire stay.

stayed 8/6/05. made reservation for double room 3/16/05.was told on arrival room not ready. when we returned were told only queen room available, but we could have a cot. after 4 hours, 5 phone calls and no cot we gave up.had to be up at 5:00 am. were up since 1:30 am the night before. needed to sleep and maid service was cleaning room across hall at 9:15pm. we finally cancelled the request for cot at 9:40pm. They showed up at 10:15pm. but the room was clean, bed comfortable and the suitcase check guys were very nice.

Don't Bring Your Car - posted on 08/07/2005

There is no valet and you must take your car out atleast once every 24hrs. So don't bring your car unless you're going to use it daily. Also there is no-one to help with luggage. But it has a great location and nice rooms, some with fantastic views.

Where were the rest of you staying? - posted on 07/22/2005

This hotel is hardly up to par for a Sheraton. Nice lobby but horrible, cramped, grubby room. DO NOT stay on the 25th floor (service rooms and maintance facilities surrounded us). Soaking wet carpet around the air-conditioner was yucky and never rectified after several requests. Good luck getting anyone who speaks English to help you!

Good value - posted on 07/14/2005

Rooms were reasonably-sized for New York. Best value we found in Theater District, although several blocks from most theaters.

Perfect for vacation - posted on 07/06/2005

A business style hotel, but we saw many families and groups of teens. The room just as the photo looks-sleek, masculine style. Quite roomy and clean. Pretty good beds and a great shower head! Location is wonderful, but not a spectacular view. Coming from JFK (with 3 or fewer people) skip the $45 cab and take the subway for only $7 ! The 7th and 53rd stop is at the hotel door. Don't miss Carnegie Deli and Lindy's. La Maison a lovely, yummy bistro is across the street. A very comfortable place to stay.
