Good spa, bad food - posted on 05/21/2007

Good if you wants quiet time, away from the more real parts of NYC. Definitely not a party place. Spa was good but spa/fitness staff a bit self-impressed. Food was bad, staff was sweet.

We'll Go Back - posted on 04/17/2007

My family of four spent 4 nights. Except for a first night screwup (4 people in one bed, no rollaway, no manager, no help), we loved it. Great view. Nice kitchen. Desk. Clean. Fast elevators. Convenient to subway. Kids ate fruit every day! We would definitely go back, and rating would be 5 if they hadn't given our room away or had been more helpful the first night.

Great Choice - posted on 04/12/2007

Great access to shopping, amazing and spacious rooms, and the exercise facility/spa is top flight. We got solid and unbiased recommendations for dining from the staff, and received terrific and timely service overall. Definitely recommend this for a short or especially extended stay (the mini-kitchen was nicer than my first apartment's, including a gas stove!)

Staff was very helpful and NICE!! Got a free upgrade to a 2 room suite bigger than most NYC apartments...even with a kitchen. Other than some minor wear and tear, it was perfect. Barking Dog restaurant next door was great for breakfast.

Good Value in Great Location - posted on 03/23/2007

The rooms were clean and very roomy (by NYC standards at least, I would think). The location near 34th and 3rd was a central midtown location for walking daytrips and with access to many restaurants right around the corner on 3rd. Not sure what the hotel price alone was as part of our overall package, but it had to be a good value. Our stay was over St. Patrick's Day weekend, so the city and our hotel was pretty booked up, making it an even better deal.

a real find - posted on 03/22/2007

we were extremely pleased with our accommodations -- the room was spacious and attractively furnished, the beds comfortable and the dual views of the east river and the financial district were wonderful. the kitchenette was a great convenience and saved us a significant amount of money. in addition, the staff was unfailingly gracious and accommodating.

Perfect! - posted on 02/09/2007

The bed matress conforms to your body. The pets can roam free (which our rabbits appreciated). Rooms have modern decor and appliances--and are super clean. Perfect NYC location. A 24-hour deli in the same block. My husband and I will always stay there when we're in NYC.

Stay here! - posted on 12/30/2006

I spent a long time researching hotel options, and kept finding rave reviews of all the Affinia properties. It did not disappoint. The room was huge, extremely well-appointed, in a fantastic location, and we had a stellar view. I would have expected to pay two to three times more for the room even at a discount. I will try to stay with Affinia on a return trip without a doubt! The ONLY down side was that the maids in the morning were really loud; the halls are small and the noise was annoying. But who needs to sleep in when you are visiting NYC?

Hotel needs upgrades - posted on 12/23/2006

The views were lovely, however, our hot water was scarce and the radiator heat in our room could wake up the dead. After two days of asking for the radiator to be serviced as well as the hot water we were moved to another room. I would not recommend this hotel since the staff was not quick to satisfy our need for a good night's sleep and a hot shower.

Great Place to Stay!!! - posted on 12/19/2006

Can't go wrong with this hotel. The rooms are spacious, clean, and updated. Ask for a room high up with a view. The service was outstanding. The location is within walking distance of Times Square, but still away from the hustle & bustle. The only thing that keeps this from being a 5-star is that it lacks a pool. Take a robe or swimsuit if you want to use the steam room. There's plenty of small restaurants/bars in the area. I had a wrap at the Barking Dog (their restaurant)and was disappointed, but my family had other items that they said were good.

Pleasant Stay - posted on 11/29/2006

The service from all of the staff exceeded my expectations, especially considering we were in NY. It has a great location, spacious rooms, kitchenette, quick elevators and fair pricing. Only issue was that the bellhop tried to rush me into catching a contracted car to the airport at $65 vs. a regular taxi off the street at $25 including tolls. Probably because he would get a small spiff from it. Other than that, everything was very pleasant.

Like having an apartment in the city - posted on 10/02/2006

We had a suite and it was so spacious. Two nice bathrooms and it was great to be able to do some cooking. We even had a little get-together with 4 friends over pastries, coffee and cold drinks. Beautifully restored building too.

Pleasantly surprised - posted on 05/10/2006

Having booked this hotel at a lower than average rate, I was pleasantly suprised. The staff (everyone!) was the nicest I have seen such a long time - very helpful with my questions. The location is in a very quiet, yet close to everything, location. The hotel tries hard to stay away from the "cookie cutter" hotel style (Aveda bath products, funky furnishings), but in some places, that is marred by poor housekeeping. My room had a strong body odor smell, but open windows for a few hours helped.

From the moment we entered the aromatherapy fragranced lobby by a most courteous staff until we left, it was a wonderrful stay. The location was great and although we were a couple, I would feel very safe staying here with my girlfriend traveling buddies. Room was very spacious with all the amenities. Bath was roomy. Linens very luxe. Try it you will love it!

Superior hotel - posted on 01/03/2006

I knew nothing of this hotel before my son, his wife and I spent two nights in a suite. It was roomy and comfortable with all the electronic hookups. A light in the bathroom was repaired without our mentioning it. Housekeeping was first rate. A small kitchen offered refrig and stove. It was just terrific.

Pleasant Surprise! - posted on 10/12/2005

The outside is inviting, the lobby is pleasant, I arrived after 1 a.m. and the doorman ran out to the taxi to get my bag and was cheerful and not "phony." The desk person was incredibly friendly. Room had huge t.v.s, comfortable couch and chair, a full on working desk, a great bed with amazing bedding and a great bathroom. Wake up call came on time, check out was easy, and an umbrella was available in my room for purchase which I needed. I told all my colleagues about it (it's 4 blocks from our new office) since we all travel to this office frequently. Well done Affinia Dumont!

Great Experience - posted on 05/18/2005

I was travelling around the country, and I lost my umbrella on the way to this hotel. The umbrella in the room was one of the many small luxuries of this hotel and one that I appreciated after the rain began shortly after I checked in. Other than one rude doorman, my stay was spectacular. Perfect for business or a discerning student.

This was the second time I stayed at the Affinia Dumont the first time for business and the second time for fun! The staff at this hotel are fantastic. Very friendly and accomodating. We had two rooms reserved, one of them looked a little bit older than the other and it needed a better cleaning. The second room was in great shape! Very comfortable. I'll be back!

On a whim, I changed our hotel reservations to the Affinia Dumont. I am SO glad I did! We were allowed to check in early and received a corner room that was huge! We were amazed at how big our room was. The decor, staff, and location of the hotel were ideal. I'll stay here again and again!

Endorsed by the ECFBL - posted on 01/14/2005

The home of the 2004 ECFBL draft, will once again be hosting the event in 2005. The spacious suite was large enough to accomodate all of the league owners present. Having a small kitchen was clutch for keeping us going through some of the later rounds.
