Customer Reviews for Doubletree Metropolitan Hotel

New York - posted on 05/29/2007

There was no airconditioning in the rooms so it was warm. Windows do not open up very well no screen on them so could not leave open all the time. The Concierge did not commuicate that they were fees on our tickets we bought for a show. The price was doulbled. He told me tickets were 110.00 and later i noticed i was billed for 205.00 a ticket. He told me nothing about the fees. I think that is a rip-off!!!. The beds were nice & it was in a nice area.

I did a LOT of research on NYC hotels and was really surprised on how good this hotel was. Great location, clean rooms, good service, great concierge. Not too noisy which was great too.

OK, But... - posted on 04/21/2007

The room was adequate. The bathroom was tatty, shabby, and smelled damp and moldy. There is no fan in there. I wasn't sure if the internet was free or not. The worst thing was the noise; it was not because of the traffic outside, but because I could hear the people in the room next door and in the corridor as though they were in my room. They need to remove those ridiculous connecting doors. Overall, it's very expensive for what you get (because it's in NYC).

Doubletree- a great NYC hotel - posted on 04/13/2007

This hotel was one of the nicest we've stayed in in NYC. The room was large and well stocked. The staff was friendly, we even got warm cookies upon check-in. It was nice to have so many elevators so there wasn't wait time in and out of the room The hotel is right next to a subway, which made travel easy.

The best bed - posted on 04/12/2007

The bed was like diving into feathers. It was wonderful. The room had space, it was in a great location. I have no complaints except maybe more towels. I felt like a queen. I'm a NY native and this hotel was wonderful

Great location - posted on 03/26/2007

The hotel is close to shopping, restaurants, Broadway, St. Pat's, etc. But it's located close to police and fire stations, so it's very noisy at night. Also, the lobby is cheesy, as is the hotel exterior. Very helpful concierges and front desk staff. Extremely inexpensive for NYC. Bed was very nice and room was clean, also the shower was great, but people partied all night in the rooms near us adding to the noise problem.

Relaxed and Efficient - posted on 03/09/2007

The location is my favorite in NYC. This was the best service, the best accomodations, I've enjoyed at a price well below the competition. I can't recommend dinner at the on-site restaurant, but you are already in the center of a city known for its dining, so why eat in?

Great time, great location - posted on 03/02/2007

The location was excellent for our needs. The staff was friendly and helpful. The beds were extremely comfortable and my wife fell in love with the pillows. The only downside to our room was the bathroom. There is no exhaust fan in there, so the humidity has caused some plaster problems in the ceiling and some of the wallpaper to peel. Other than that, we totally enjoyed out stay!

Comfortable, clean, central - posted on 03/01/2007

Location is great, right on the #6 train in midtown, with convenient shopping and dining. East Midtown is far less touristy than Times Square, which I consider a major plus. The room gets some noise from the hallways and there is a fire station on the block - it's NYC, it's noisy, that's life, it's to be expected. Rooms are clean, smartly furnished and comfortable. Staff is cordial and knowledgeable.

Hotel centrally located within walking distance to many major attractions and subways. Perfectly adequate especially if all you want is a nice place to sleep at days end.

Disappointed - posted on 02/19/2007

Friends of ours had ordered a fruit and cheese basket to be delivered to our room. The gift basket service delivered it but it never got to our room. All the drains in the bathroom ran very slow.

This Is Not a Four Star Hotel - posted on 02/18/2007

I do not know who rated this as a Four Star hotel. It is barely a Three Star Hotel. Even the staff said it was a three star. I upgraded to this hotel because of the rating and was sorely dissapointed.

Doubletree is nice for the money - posted on 02/07/2007

We were definitely not met with a smile. Complimentary cookie was nice gesture. During the night I froze because of the heating system. Shower has great water pressure. Its a nice place of the price paid.

CONVIENCE OF WALKING TO MAJOR ATTRACTIONS, ROCKFELLAR CTR, BROADWAY, CENTRAL PARK, BUS AND SUBWAY LINES NEARBY. HOTEL IS LITTLE TIRED AND COULD USE SOME REMODELING.

Proximity was worth it. - posted on 12/27/2006

The desk clerk was spectacular and very welcoming. Housekeeping was slow in providing the requested hairdryer missing from the room, but eventually did so. Too much mold on the walls and ceiling bathtub area for my taste, but the bed was exceptionally comfortable. Proximity to the subway was excellent.

Great weekend away - posted on 12/26/2006

My husband and I went to NYC for a weekend away from everything. It was an excellent trip. The hotel was in a great location..close to Rockafeller center, the tree, shops, times square. The hotel was updated, clean and reasonable. Nice bar in the lobby too! Note: the beds are down and the pillows too, nice as long as you are not allergic!!

CLEAN, NICE GREAT PLACE TO STAY FOR FIRST TIMERS - posted on 11/18/2006

For first time visitors to the City, my husband and I were very apprehensive about where to stay for a week, we read all the reviews and this place had mixed reviews especially about room size, but we gambled and we have only GOOD things to say about this place! Why all the crying about room size? Ours was a queen and more than adequate space, clean, and comfortable! Location was close to everything we wanted to see or easy access to transportation. Staff was exceptionally courteous! Price was right! Will stay again!

Wedding Anniversary - posted on 10/17/2006

My wife and I recently enjoyed our 10 year wedding anniversary at the Doubletree Metropolitan Hotel. Our stay was fantastic. The staff was very attentive to our needs. The hotel was very clean and appealing to the eye (not to mention the great location). Last but not least, the chocolate chip cookies are fantastic as well as a nice touch !!!

A Fun Trip With My Wife - posted on 10/01/2006

The hotel was well within walking distance of Broadway and this where we spent a lot of our time. The room was comfortable the only complaint we had was the bathroom ceiling was peeling and did not look to apeeling to the eye but no dangers were to be had. The price was great for New York and they gave us each a delicious cookie upon check in. Overall it was a great trip with the one I love.

Fantastic Hotel - posted on 09/25/2006

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The service was excellant, the staff friendly and helpful and the room neat, clean and comfortable. The subway is right next door and the location of the hotel is close to everything! We would definately recommend staying here and the cost was very reasonable. We will definately stay here again when visiting New York.

Mostly good but some bad - posted on 07/20/2006

1st conceirge was great. 2nd conceirge was what everyone would expect from a New Yorker--he was rude, gave us wrong information, would not give recommendations for restaurants. The rest of the staff greeted us every time they saw us. The room was small but it was fine--bigger than some I've stayed at in Europe!

Disappointed - posted on 06/20/2006

The bathroom was so unclean, I purchased a cleaner with bleach to use it! The air conditioner broke in the middle of the night. The dust was so thick the brown furniture and carpet were white. The worse lodging experience I had. Awful! Awful!

At $* a night you would expect more...a lot more. Let's start with the Air unit. It would change from cool to hot for no reason. There was a control on the wall but it didnt work. TV reception was horrid. And the hotel staff were not as nice as most New Yorkers. The door man wanted $30 because I hailed my own cab (he was busy talking his friend).

Great First NY Experience - posted on 03/06/2006

For first time NY visitors, we did not have a clue where to stay. We were under the impression that for the price we were paying, we would have a very average and small room. We were very pleasantly surprised by how nice our room was and how conveniently located it was to everything we wanted to do. The room size was more than adequate, very clean and we found the decor very modern. We will return to the Doubletree Metropolitan and feel confident in recommending your hotel.

Wonderful experience - posted on 10/29/2005

After weeks of looking on-line for a hotel and reading negative comments, we chose this hotel because it was newly renovated and the photos of the room looked attractive. We were not disappointed. The rooms were very nice, cleaned every day to our satisfaction; the dining room served an excellent meal the one time we ate there. It's close to everything and the staff is pleasant and helpful. I would stay there again.

making up for mistakes - posted on 10/17/2005

After flying in on a storm we found that the hotel had been over booked, the staff was very nice and gave us a room across town (a four star) it was horriable! The next day we returned to the doubletree and were treated like queens. They did not charge for the night before and the room was upgraded. I love the staff and the newly remodled rooms. They were clean and smelled great!!! The beds were extreemly comfortable. very good location close to everything.

A HUGE disappointment - posted on 05/11/2005

I travel monthly and was shocked at how I was treated and the quality of our room. We were put in a room different than we were booked for and it smelled horrible. The alarm was left on for 5am with the radio on full blast.Never had anything close to this at a Hilton property before. Spend more and stay somewhere nice.

Pleasantly surprised - posted on 04/05/2005

After reading the past reviews, we highly considered cancelling our room, but gave it a chance. We were highly impressed. The rooms were very nice, but the bathrooms are very small, but at least the rooms are cozy. We had 3 women with 2 double beds and had plenty of room. Would stay here again no doubt. Close to subways and walking distance to everything. We loved it. We found the staff especially the conciere and bellmen very helpful and friendly. Thanks for making our first trip to NY great!!!

Great! - posted on 04/02/2005

We checked in at 8 am, they did not mind giving us our room that early, since they had it available. We came from a hotel that made us wait 15 minutes to check in the day before. The desk was so friendly and appreciative that we were there. Our room was clean, the beds were sooo comfortable and the linens were soft. Every need was taken care of immediately. We couldn't figure out our TV, called and 2 minutes later someone was at the door to push the TV/VCR button. Great location for the bus and subway, it was across the street. It was safe and clean.
