Very nice hotel, very clean, and in a good location. Nothing big was wrong but lots of little things: sink was cracked, bathtub was cracked, and magnetic latch for the cover over the room safe was missing. Staff was very nice, and friendly.

Very nice, upscale and clean. Not far from grand central terminal.

No price list for mini-bar and snacks in room, even after requesting one.

The hotel exceeded our expectations. The lobby is beautiful with its art deco ceiling and wonderful fresh floral arrangements. The staff were friend and happy to be of service. Our room was well appointed with a king size bed, a personal safe, mini bar, cable TV and internet access (for a small fee). We were very pleased with the location and found that we were within walking distance to many famous land marks and subway stations. It was an absolute delight to walk out onto Lexington Avenue and see the Chrysler Building every morning. I would happily recommend this hotel to others.

Beautiful lobby with old world charm set in a fabulous location.

The bed was rather firm and I woke with a back ache most mornings.

The Barclay New York, part of the Intercontinental chain of hotels, is targeted towards business travelers who want a high-class hotel experience. Located on the east side of Manhattan near Sutton Place, the Barclay is close to the United Nations and Central Park. In your leisure time, take in some shopping on Fifth Avenue or go to a show at Radio City Music Hall. Rockefeller Center is also in the area. There is great American style fare at the hotel's Barclay Bar and Grill, or you can take a walk to any number of wonderful area restaurants. World Travel Awards named the Barclay the "Best Business Hotel" in 2003, 2004 and 2005, so it has a long reputation for excellence. This hotel also has 18 meeting rooms and party spaces for those who wish to throw an event. There's also a state-of-the-art fitness center.

This hotel has 686 guest rooms and suites. There are handicap accessible rooms, as well. The decor of the rooms is home-like, but very traditional and old-fashioned. There's no modern design here. There are three rooms levels: normal room, suite and luxury suite.

The Barclay modernized their amenities recently in this hotel where the traditional meets modern. Each room includes digital cable or satellite television with on demand movies and video games, an alarm clock with an mp3 player hookup, in room safe, dual voltage outlets, phone and climate control. There is complimentary Internet, newspaper, and coffee maker. Turndown service is available on request. Suites have bathrobes and stereo systems. In-room dining takes on a whole new level at the suite level, where the hotel's Dining Manager will arrange catering for small parties hosted inside of your room.

Intercontinental The Barclay New York gets very high marks for quality of service, rooms and general level of hospitality. It's a wonderful hotel that's very reminiscent of traditional grand hotels. Since this is the first true luxury hotel built in New York City, it has a lot of old world flavor. Heads of state have stayed at the Barclay when in town, including Nelson Mandela and former French President Francois Mitterand. This hotel is a tony establishment that is great for business people and those that aren't into the glitzy, showy side of New York City.
