my first visit to NY, was expecting to be treated better than the staff @ waldorf. from the bellhop to the front desk to the concigere, not a friendly person there. will go back to manhattan, just not the waldorf astoria. at these prices, i expected better.

Everything was perfect, except for the fact that it cost $23.00 to get coffee brought to your room in the morning. I realize it is a fancier hotel, but coffee pots in the room would be a great help.
Not Impressed - posted on 05/04/2007
When you pay for a luxury hotel, you expect the services of one. That is not what I got. There was rarely anyone hailing taxis, the bellmen wouldn't get my luggage and my reserved king bed was unavailable so they had me move after one night. I stayed for the name but will not do that again. Shame on Hilton for allowing this place to go down hill. They simply don't care.

Have stayed here twice before. Wonderful this time as well. Father very sick made things very easy for us with him. I will stay here again

The lobby and restaurants are great at this establishment. Our room had alot of noise from the city and wasn't what you would expect from the Waldorf. I've had better salon experiences in the city but the stylist did a good job.
Very nice - posted on 02/08/2007
Not enough people working the front desk at 2:15pm on a Monday. Otherwise, great service from housekeeping to room service. Good food! Had a suite which was nice. Bathroom could use some work...paint was peeling in multiple places. The bed was excellent!

Beautiful hotel with tons of history. GREAT lobby with interesting historic photo display. Across the street from a subway stop. The loation can't be beat.
Disappointed in the Waldorf - posted on 12/25/2006
Great maid service. Rooms too small and outdated for the money. We got there late due to flight delays and believe our rooms had been given away. Ended up in a small smoking room that smelled bad. Believe we got downgraded even though we had reserved and paid for our room months ago. The beds were very comfortable though and the food was good. Would probably not stay here again.

Exceptionally charming establishment that has all of the modern conveniences yet has maintained its 19th Century flavor. Great restaurants within, and ther room and service were great.
WaldorfAstoria - posted on 12/02/2006
The Waldorf was/is a great historic hotel. Our disapointments were related to the plumbing, the hvac (was on heat only and the room was hot, we were able to open our window and get relief, night turn down only happened on the first night, as well as newspaper only on the first morning) All that said, it was a great experience in a great hotel with great service and amenities in the heart of New York!

The Waldorf Astoria gave exactly what you would expect 4 STAR SERVICE. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The 7th Floor housekeeping staff made my morning everyday with friendly smiles and plesant Good Mornings. Great Stay!!!!

Lucky for its history and name! - posted on 09/13/2006
The walls in the guest rooms were pealing off and the color was dull. The valet service was awful. Waited over an hour only to find out we needed to go to another entrance to pick up the car. Room service took too long.
Great hotel, but needs white glove treatment - posted on 08/31/2006
Very happy with stay. Stunning lobby. Beds very comfortable. Great view of Chrysler bldg. on 15th floor. Location outstanding - close to everything. Staff couldn't check us in right away, so gave us highly upgraded room 2 hours later. Small squawks: Inside door fittings need replacement, finish on sink old and cracking - Some areas of room need dusting, cleaning. Would stay again for sure, and recommend absolutely.

The Waldorf Astoria is a historic landmark that provides visitors high-quality service in a comfortable atmosphere. The hotel is a few blocks from Times Square, but worth the extra walk. Take time to explore the inside of the hotel, including the ornate lobby and ballroom.
Wonderful - posted on 08/08/2006
Our room was unbelievable it was basically a suite and at a very reasonable rate. The hotel was very clean and the staff were very polite and helpful. We are planning a trip to New York again next year and will be staying at the Waldorf again and requesting the same room.

Unfriendly doormen, old ac system, slow service, and very small rooms. The Benjamin (one block away)was a better hotel for the money.
Bust for my Buck - posted on 07/20/2006
For the amount of money you spend at this hotel, the hotel could certainly use an upgrade. Rooms are small, sinks were cracked, doorbells didn't work, feathers coming out of pillow and down comforter, quilt was torn.It was like we were in the servants quarters of the Waldorf.
Royal Disappointment - posted on 06/09/2006
We were very disappointed in our stay. First, valet parking is very hard to locate and with Park Ave traffic, we waited almost an hour to park. Secondly, Check In was delayed until 4 PM! Moreover, the fire alarm began ringing at 5 AM and again at around 6 AM! Both times the hotel announced it was a false alarm. When we finally relaxed and fell back asleep, maintenance began construction on the room next to us at 8:30 ? no apologies given for these inconveniences. Very frustrating and inconvenient ? would not stay here again.

Check in was crowded and was a little chaotic. The room was a little small but sufficient. We weren't happy with the breakfast buffet as some items were stale and very slow to be replaced .
Luxury and Amazingly Beautiful - posted on 04/12/2006
We loved our stay. Considering the location and the opulence of this magnificent historic hotel, the price for our room was very reasonable. We called it our little Manhattan apartment with the bedroom separate from the living room and 2 full baths. We were in heaven with the bedding and views. Simply heaven!
Historic Hotel - posted on 01/11/2006
Overall the experience at the Waldorf was excellent. It was great to be at a full service hotel that has such historic significance. As you would expect the prices for food of any kind are very high, but the beauty of the Lobby, the gracious service and the location outweigh the negatives. The only surprise was at the small size of the rooms. We had a king bed and it left just a little space to navigate around the rest of the room. Overall, we loved it, but having stayed there once we would probably try another hotel in the future.
I EXPECTED MORE - posted on 12/21/2005
I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and was impressed with the lobby, the restaurants, and the staff, however the rooms were in need of an update. Our room was huge! It was larger than my sister's apartment! The waste of space for a NYC hotel was ridiculous! The ceilings were at least 12ft or more. We even had an entertainment room in our room. Two entrances it was awesome, but the heat only worked well in the bathroom and the bedroom:( There was a full kitchen but not well equipped. Only glasses and silverware.
GREAT TRIP - posted on 12/19/2005
location is fantastic because your within 10 blocks of fao, shopping on 5th, grand central, central park maybe 12 blocks, great restaurants, and the best part, far enough away from the tourist trap, times square. excellent conciege, recommeded excellent steak house that accomodated a 8 mo old during prime dinner hours. waldorf has a starbucks in lobby too!!

I can see why the Waldorf so renownwed. I t was absolutely beautiful. So classy and elegant- not new and trendy. Close to everything and great food and staff. Plus that is where my fiance proposed... In the marble lobby by the Christmas tree! They sent us a bottle of Champagne and a rose. The rooms were not big- but very nice and comfotable. We plan to go back annually.

This hotel offers the best luxury rooms for the price compared to other luxury hotels in midtown and the upper east and west sides. The staff is excellent and the location very convenient as well!

We were put in a room with one king bed. Where were the 2 children to sleep? 2 rollaways made the room extremely crowded. a/c went from not great to inadequate. not what i expect at 'the grand dame". not what I've experienced when staying there before.. am i expecting too much when i paid a discounted rate? i think not.

Waldorf NOT worth it !! - posted on 05/23/2005
Not worth the money !!! Lobby was crowded, NO ONE to help with luggage, elevators didn't work all of the time. No in-room safe, rooms needed updating, bathrooms were not clean and needed updating. Very disappointing for a 5 star hotel !!! Would NEVER go back !!

Room had an odor. View was poor. Sadly in need of updating. Bathtub dirty, no working fan. Expected more for the money.

must try their lobster tail, although expensive (69 dollars), but very big and juicy,.room is a bit old, but nothing to complain about their service.... pizza and cake is also very genuine.
Will never stay again - posted on 11/24/2004
We will never stay again. I have honestly never been less impressed with all around service, quality of rooms, etc. Small, cramped rooms with cracked walls. This was an eye opener for sure. Great dinner at Nobu's though--thanks Yoko!
