The 112 all-suites Residence Inn by Marriott Albuquerque is designed for the extended-stay business or leisure traveler but its facilities are equally suited for an overnight stop. The pet-friendly, two-story inn is close to the airport and near the University of New Mexico. Items included in the room rate are a hot breakfast buffet, a manager’s reception on midweek evenings, high-speed Internet access, local telephone calls, parking and coffee available in the lobby 24/7. There are two meeting rooms for business or social events. The larger can accommodate 42 guests. The nearby university stadium hosts the yearly Gathering of Nations Powwow. The non-smoking inn is close to I-40, which goes to downtown with its businesses and attractions including the zoo, aquarium, botanical gardens and the National Atomic Museum.

This inn gets good reviews for its reasonable price, spacious suites and a team of employees that are courteous and efficient. Several clients say this is an older inn and it is beginning to show its age. The public areas are in need of refurbishing. Despite this many repeat visitors say will continue to use this property because the price is right and the location is good, two miles from the stadium and four miles from the Old Town. All of the suites have a fireplace and a kitchen with conventional oven and microwave oven, stovetop, refrigerator with icemaker, dishwasher, coffeemaker, toaster and a full set of cutlery and crockery. There is a work desk with ergonomic chair and high-speed Internet access, telephone with voicemail, pullout sofa bed, cable television with movie and news channels, pay-per-view movies, hairdryer and an iron and ironing board.

The inn has an outdoor heated swimming pool, whirlpool and a fitness center. The only meals served here are breakfast and the mid week light dinners at the manager’s reception. The inn offers a grocery shopping service. There are several places to eat nearby including the Gruet Winery Steakhouse, Ko Palace, Rudy’s Barbecue and Kelly’s Brewing. The 24-hour front desk has safe deposit boxes and information on area events and attractions.
