The Econo Lodge Jersey City is located a short distance from downtown New York City. While Jersey City can be very nice and upscale in certain parts, this particular section isn't one of the nicest. However, for travelers that are street-smart, this could fit the bill. Jersey City has several tourist attractions, and is close to Hoboken Terminal, Newark Liberty International Airport and Penn Station Newark. There's a lot of public transportation, with many buses and commuter vans heading to the city proper. Or, go a little further and hit the PATH system to take advantage of more of Manhattan. This Econo Lodge is truly no-frills, and doesn't have a restaurant or fitness center. However, there are local eateries and fast food shops along Tonnelle Avenue.

This is a hotel of last resort. Jersey City has better quality accommodations in safer neighborhoods. As one reviewer noted, it's fine if you're a man traveling alone. However, it's not a good location for families or single women. The rooms are routinely dirty and unkempt, and the management and staff described as rude and unhelpful. This hotel has its desk behind bullet-proof glass, and Tonnelle Avenue is noisy and busy, especially during rush hour. The Econo Lodge Jersey City has 38 rooms. There are no suites. Some of the rooms have a whirlpool bath. No pets are allowed. Bring your car, but the parking is uncertain and not secure, with street spaces first come, first serve.
