The young man at the desk was very friendly and helpful. He did his best to see that we were very comfortable. The hotel had a variety of visitors, which we met at the breakfast area. A young soldier back from Iraq, a family going to a funeral. We were going to a convention in Philadelphia, The NEA Retired.

When I checked in, I requested a smoking room. At first the gentleman at the desk said there were no smoking rooms left, but the manager overheard the conversation and showed him how to change my room from a single to a double to accommodate me. The manager warned me however that a lot of people complain about trucking noise in that room and asked if Id be okay with it. I said I would be okay with the noise. When I got into the room I could tell why - there is no insulation around the door frame leaving wide gaps and providing a way for noise to enter easily. The room was comfortable and overall I enjoyed my stay. Thank you to the friendly staff.

Lots of near by amenities.

The entrance to the parking lot from rt 168 was poorly marked and unsafe.

This hotel offered a reasonably clean room at a very convenient location for NJ Turnpike travelers. The facility appears to be a re-model of an older facility. Rooms are on the small size. The room seemed clean and smelled of room freshener. The mattress was soft and rolled toward center of bed. Could clearly hear television and conversation in adjacent room. Breakfast included Dunkin Doughnuts, a few dry cereals, milk and coffee. No juices were available. If your just looking for a low cost bed right off exit 3 of the New Jersey Turnpike, this is the place. For a more accommodating stay.

This Howard Johnson Express gets many repeat clients, always a good recommendation, who appreciate the friendly and helpful service they receive from the front desk workers. Sadly there were clients who were not so lucky and they complained about rude employees. Fortunately the gripers were in the minority. The rates here are reasonable and the rooms basic, but spotlessly clean. Words of warning from those who have stayed here: There is no elevator. If getting luggage up a flight of stairs is a problem be sure to get a ground floor room.
