Great value on the Boardwalk. - posted on 12/07/2006

Stayed for 3 nights in the North Tower - it was beautifully renovated. The bed was SUPER comfortable, and the sheets were very clean. Room was HUGE. Best hotel room I have ever stayed in. Room service is great - pizza is delicious and inexpensive. "The Quarter" is a huge shopping area that you will really enjoy. Right on the board walk, so you can stroll down to other casino's too. A GREAT A.C. getaway. Highly recommended.

Great Time at the Trop! - posted on 08/13/2005

We stayed in the new Havana Tower. Very nice nonsmoking king size bed in room and decent amenities (coffee pot, fridge, safe, iron!). Tip - Self park your car and go right from the elevator to the Havana Towers Lobby. Do the room check in with the Concierge desk in the tower and avoid the main lobby. We did and did not have a wait or to stand in a long line. My only real complaint was the noise level, especially music entertainment, which was way too loud and made conversations difficult. We loved the Irish Pub in the Quarters and had dinner there twice!

Beautiful Hotel - posted on 08/09/2005

The staff was very nice and kind. The room we ended up with was beautiful!! I am glad we spent the little extra money to stay in the hotel we were going to be gambling at. It really paid off as we didn't have to worry about the drive home. My husband and I love to play poker and this hotel has an awesome non smoking room. If you go to the Tropicana you have to visit Corkey's and Carmines Restaurant! It is to die for! Well worth the time and money. It's as close as you get to Vegas on the East Coast.

Musty Room!!! - posted on 06/04/2007

We had a very smooth check-in, staff at front desk was nice and upgraded us to the Havana Tower with a fabulous ocean view (room there was pretty musty and dirty to our suprise). Horrible check-out however - the staff threw us the receipt and overcharged us without an explanation!!! We ended up filing a complaint with the manager and he corrected the charge. Would only recommend for a quick stay!

Bet on a great getaway - posted on 05/07/2007

The room was much larger than I expected for the price. Everyone was very helpful. We didn't have enough towels, was perhaps the only problem, but a call to housekeeping and they arrived promptly. The hotel is in a casino so there's lots of activity -- which I like. The location is great...the ocean is just outside the door and of course, the casino and The Quarter where it's fun to shop and dine.

Terrible! - posted on 04/23/2007

We just got back from our stay at the Tropicanna and it was terrible. After booking on line and calling to confirm the evening of the 20th, they still gave me a different room that was not satisfactory. And while we were playing black jack there was about a four hour period when there was no waitress. We asked and all they kept telling us is that it was shift change. Talk about rude! And if you want good comps, stay somewhere else. For what we paid for the room and spent in the casino minus the comps (very little) we could have flown to Vegas for less money! We will not go back.

The Good, The Bad, The Shore - posted on 04/15/2007

Two flaws spoiled an otherwise great get-away. The room in the extra-cost Havana tower was both ordinary and musty, not what one would expect for a upgraded room. And the staff barely spoke English. On the other hand, The Quarter, a Vegas-style (inhotel) shopping/restaurant mall had a great variety of stores and restaurants, catering to all prices and patrons. They ranged from sports bars to family style Italian to high end steak (The Palm). In short, a nice Atlantic City Hotel in a nice location with much to recommend it for a short vacation.

My stay - posted on 04/08/2007

Reserved room not available when arrived after 4:30; either wait two hours or accept another room.Alternative room in West tower where the lights below shined in window all nite. Service staff very unhelpful and snobby. Work being done in casino area made finding the buffet very hard. Waited 30 minutes to have valet service get my car. Won't go to that one again.
Needs Improvement: service

Girls weekend out! - posted on 02/24/2007

I really enjoyed my stay at the trop. We arrived at noon and they allowed us to check in because our room was ready. The bellhop was great, took ALL of our stuff delivered it to our room, parked our car. No worries. A little language barrier when checking in but nothing you dont experience anwhere else. Room was nice, nothing exceptional but nice and clean. Requested more pillows and blankets they came immediately. Tons of dining options, nightlife, casino floor huge, and soo much more. You def need more than one night to experience it all! Overall best place ive stayed yet in AC.

What a disappointment! - posted on 01/19/2007

I was extremly disappointed in this hotel, especially considering what I paid for the room. It was clean, but that is about as good as it gets. The beds were horrible, and I woke up with a terrible back ache! Additionally, the hallways were extremely loud, and I was up half the night listening to the neighbors bang on the doors and run up and down the hall. I will never stay at this hotel again, and I'd advise other travelers to avoid it all cost.

This was my first time at the Trop.,but I thought it was a great experience. Food is a little pricey but good,I was fortunate to get there before the rush so no wait at registration.Get there early! Loved the room and had no problem with staff until morning when room service tried to barge in,twice! Use door latch and get Do Not Disturb sign! Am definatly going again!

Renovated New Hotel - posted on 12/26/2006

Hotel is renovated and it looks like a hotel in Vegas but they gave me a room which wasn't cleaned and when I called the reception to change my room they had told me to come down and pick up the new key for the new room. But there are multiple tower and mine was far away from the reception and with that many luggage they insisted me to go all the way thru the casino to get a new key even though it was 100% their fault. But the hotel is newly renovated and nice place to stay. Service needs to be improved.

Check-In Hassles - posted on 12/19/2006

It never fails when you check into the Tropicana, there is always a hassle. Your room is never ready or they don't have the size bed you want. It is always a hassle to get what you want and I pay full price and am not comped for anything, so it's quite discouraging.

Very Impressed - posted on 11/28/2006

The Trop was very impressive. The new "Quarter" area is great for dining, shopping, and just hanging out. The room we booked was big and well appointed. The staff wasn't overly friendly (its still Jersey). Planning on heading back.

An Excellent Upgrade - posted on 11/13/2006

We just stayed in Trop's new Havanna Tower. It was very nice. The walk is long to get to/from lobby, but the room was worth the hike. I just wish the room had a big comfy chair for lounging.

THE STAFF NEEDS A DOSE OF GOOD OL FASHIONED COURTESY. WATCH OUT FOR THE SOAP PRODUCTS THEY GIVE YOU IF YOU HAVE SENSITIVE SKIN, THEY DO NOT CARE IF YOU GET BURNED. DOUBLE CHECK YOUR BILL TO SEE IF IT IS CORRECT, IT COSTS ME OVERDRAWN FEES FOR STAFF THAT DID NOT LISTEN!!!!!
Needs Improvement: The staff needs some people training

ONE OF THE BEST IN ATLANTIC CITY - posted on 08/07/2006

Our 3d Summer stay at The Trop. The shopping and restaurant area (The Quarter) is the best of its kind in Atlantic City. Food at Carmines, Cuba Libre, and The Palm is as good as it gets - but make reservations for dinner!! Room was clean and spacious. Service was professional and efficient although the reservation fell through - always take your conformation details with you. 2006 & no internet access in West Tower - you would think they could set up a wi-fi for a reasonable daily fee ...

First time A.C. - posted on 07/30/2006

Clean hotel, comfortable rooms, had trouble with elevator service one day but it was fixed. Had trouble at indoor pool one day, I think employees were not interested and not telling the truth about when it would open. One day there was terrible outdoor odor re: low tide? Eat at A`Dam Good Deli! Buffet overpriced.

Rip Joint - posted on 06/25/2006

The Tropicana, or Trop is known by locals in A.C. as "The Drop". This place is your typical Atlantic City rip joint, the casino is old, and you couldn't find surlier dealers anywhere. The only thing that makes the Tropicana appealing is the quarter.

let there be elevators - posted on 06/25/2006

Once again, we had some waits on the elevators as long as 35 minutes. We had to use the stairs. another problem were the comp. dollars. They were confusing and at times impossible to use. The rooms were very ordinary and although most of the stafff were friendly, some were definately in need of more training. If gambling is your desire, then this is a great place to go. If you expect to be treated to a great hotel experiance, look somewhere else.

Go Back To The Trop - posted on 06/12/2006

Great hotel, loved the general market... The location was just a little far from the rest of the casinos, but the walk will do you good. The front desk had wrong information regarding my booked room, they did not fix it until I got into the room and discovered the mistake, went to guest services and they corrected the problem. Even left behind luggage when i checked out, they found it and sent it out on their nickel. Go to the Trop.

Self-parking was convenient, check-in was smooth/professional. Havanna Room was spacious and clean, amenities were adequate. Information desk and concierge were extremely helpful on all occasions. Restaurants were crowded - make reservations! Showroom was comfortable compared to other theaters - all good seats. French quarter was hopping with activities/shops/clubs for all!

The Tropicana Hotel was excellent. The price was right and the stay very pleasant. Check in was the worst part, since it took making a very long line to do so. I suggest allowing guest to check in before 2:30 PM (even if they have to wait until 2:30 to get into their rooms

If you have been to Vegas, stay here - posted on 01/18/2006

Trop. is the hotel most like hotels in Vegas comparatively with the other hotels on the boardwalk. My husband and I spent on day just shoping the Quater and looking arround at all the decorations. They had fake snow showers that came from the sky (it was acutally bubbles) and decorated hall ways in the shoping area, simular to Cesars palace in Las Vegas. Lots of great places to eat with a variet of prices. We ate at the dinner buffet and got room service on our comps. So if you gamble, get a players card and make it worth your while!

Check in was fairly eazy, use desks with shortest lines and phone/video for check out The west Towers lacked fridge though they were cleaned regularly but it was noisey. Our room was next to the elevator, and should have been discounted. There appeared to be many children on the floor, floors could be designated for families. Directions within the resort could have been better. Blue Mercury Spa was a big plus.

Booked a room in the Havana tower and could not have been more pleased. The Quarter had a really nice Cuban theme that we were greeted with everytime we left our room to head to the casino. Room was non-smoking but had a faint scent of smoke - called the front desk and room service was at our door in 2 mins to deodorize the room.

Better at the Borgata - posted on 08/24/2005

We were excited to stay at the Havana Tower. Check-in was horrible. Only 2 people at the front desk at 6 p.m. Couldn't find a room for 10 minutes - luckily I had the confirmation. Room was clean but boring. It was like every other hotel room. Borgata has great trendy rooms. Check out was another nightmare with only 2 employees at the front desk. The Quarter is great but stay at the Borgata and take a taxi over.

Best Casino on Beach - posted on 08/15/2005

The Good: Room was clean, comfortable & reasonably priced. Easy access to casino & beach. The Tropicana's new shopping & restaurant area "The Quarter" is great - best in Atlantic City. Free entertainment at the Casino lounge areas (until 2 AM!) and bars was a real treat and best on the beach (where did they get the fabulous Frank Sinatra imitator?) The Bad: No internet access in rooms; not even wi-fi. How pathetic. Also, the Trop one of few casinos that does not have a beach bar which is now the rage in A/C. The showroom's magic act ($20) was poor, but the juggler was great!!
