The saying good things come in small packages is probably the best description for New Jersey. It is one of the smallest states in the nation but is also one of the oldest. Although New York grabs a lot of the attention New Jersey has definitely made a name for itself. In the music industry alone, it is known for the talent that calls NJ home.

Once you arrive in Atlantic City you might feel like you made a wrong turn somewhere. The lights, hotels and 24-hour casinos remind you of Las Vegas except for one thing. Instead of an ocean of sand you have an actual ocean. New Jersey’s shore is a great place to enjoy a wealth of water activities. Whether you prefer to sail, fish, swim or simply soak up the rays, you’ll love the white sandy beaches. Many of the towns located along the shore also provide you with a great selection of delicious seafood dishes, enjoyable boardwalks and of course, salt water taffy. One of the oldest seashore resorts in the nation can be found in New Jersey as well. Cape May’s miles of beautiful shores has drawn in visitors for decades and should not be missed. Make your way to Morey’s Piers if you’re looking for a bit more action. It’s a great amusement park filled with rides to get you drenched.

Springtime in New Jersey is especially lovely in Branch Brook Park. The hundreds of cherry trees are in full bloom drawing in visitors who love the fragrant scents that fill the air. Other sites of interested include the stunning Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart, whose stained glass windows are worth the visit alone, and the Newark Museum, a definite must for those who appreciate art. As mentioned before New Jersey has made an impact in the music business. Visiting the Institute of Jazz is a great experience but if you want to hear the music instead of learning about it try to catch the Cape May Jazz Festival. It is one of New Jersey’s best events. If you can’t make it to the festival the Meadowlands is a fantastic entertainment complex that has some sort of entertainment available almost every single night of the year. Another great complex is the Jersey Gardens. Some may not think that shopping is a form of entertainment. However, you can spend hours in this mall and still not go into every single store.

Whether you’re enjoying a thirst quenching Lime Rickey, chewing on the salt water taffy, or taking in the sites, New Jersey is definitely a state that should not be overlooked.
