Loved it! - posted on 11/16/2005
Just returned from our 1st trip to Las Vegas and our hotel was the best part! Very clean, easy check-in and out. Extremely quiet. Nice casino. Many dining choices. Wish the pool had been open since the weather was still very nice! Wish the trips/tours desk personnal were more-informed, but still a great experience.

This was our first time to Vegas and I would say this hotel was perfect. Most the reviews about the MC were correct. Very nice hotel, good location with tram to the Bellagio. Tram system was a great way to get around. Very nice resaurants, brewery and food court. Pool area was very nice. There is also a CVS drug store right next door. The size of the hotel made it easy to get around, not huge like so many of the others. Its true that you never notice any smoke in the casino. We never had any problem with noise. Great hotel at a great price.

Stayed there from the 22-25 May 2007. I had a blast!! Casino Exec was very accomadating in taking care of us. Rooms were clean, (new carpet needed though). Construction was ongoing but did not interfere with sleep. Food was very good in the cafe restaraunt, the breakfast buffet was great too. I will be going back no problem!! Cleaned up gambling too!

I was worried about staying here because of the reviews posted. We had an EXCELLENT experience!! Do not base any decision on poor reviews! We were offered a better view of the strip, had excellent service, and stayed next to construction the first night & did not experience any loud noises! I will definitely stay here again!! Great value for your money!

We loved the pool area. We spent a lot of time there. The rooms are quite old and the walls thin. Both sets of friends we went with had bad experiences when their maids entered the rooms without permission. For the price we would rather stay at a newer/nicer resort.

After reading the reviews on the Monte Carlo, I was really worried about staying there. BUT we had a perfectly fine, clean, nice room and time at the Monte Carlo. Our A/C did go out but we called and within a couple of hours maintenience had fixed it. For the price, it was a good place to stay.

I was disappointed with the Monte Carlo this visit. Last visit was in 8/2000 You would think that some updates would have been done in 7 yrs. Our bedding was dirty, and old, very stingy on their toiletries, and towels. The pool was over crowded and could not walk about easily, once seated in your lounge chair. The lazy river was down for 2 days of our stay, lots of construction going on which is viewable and noisy while at the pool area. Definitely not a 4 or 5 star. Bordering on "fair"
Monte Carlo was great - posted on 05/07/2007
The hotel location was perfect - next to Bellagio and NYNY, and across from MGM. Hotel staff was efficient and friendly, the rooms were really nice, we had a fantastic view of the Strip from our 22nd floor room. The hotel casino was really nice and had a good selection of slots. It wasn't super crowded either - mostly hotel guest traffic. The pool area was nice and the wave pool was fun. The tubing river was closed while we were there and planned to open the day after we left - oh well. Next time..... Other than that little disappointment - we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Monte Carlo.

Monte Carlo had torn bed sheets and covers. Lazy River Pool was closed, casino had contruction, all around property was construction and noisy (starting at 6:00 am). As for hotel, not a good trip at all. Issues should have been discounted. Would not stay there again.

Stayed on south side of hotel: construction noise was no problem. Great service. Great room. Clean. Plenty of hot water. Thick towels. Everything worked. It's not an adventure trying to figure out how to go from casino to room -- elevators are all in one place near the front desk. Ample sign-age to follow. Pool was nice. I'll be back!

The only thing I didn't like was the very long check in process. There needs to be a way to speed that up in most hotels.

I visited the monte carlo in 2/06 and I said I would never stay anywhere eles in Vegas. I returned this year 3/31/07 and the view from was room was a construction site, the casino was dead and you could not get a drink. There was no one in there to take drink orders. The shuttle bus dropped us off in a real dusty area. The website informed you of the construction, but I did not realize how extreme.

Location Hard to Beat - posted on 04/05/2007
The BEST thing about the Monte Carlo is the location--just on the south end of Center Strip, so getting around was very easy. The staff was also excellent--we were there for our wedding, and every time we needed something, the staff was happy to help (even while we checked in with a very large group also in the lobby). The walls between rooms are very thin, and we heard our neighbor's phone ringing many times very early our first morning. Yes, there is construction, but it didn't bother us much, nor our friends whose room overlooked it (along with the pool).

We were in Vegas to attend two DMB shows at the MGM Grand. The location of the Monte Carlo couldn't have been more perfect. It was at the hub of the strip. They had pleasant service, a big casino, buffets, restaurants, pubs, etc. The pool was nice, but a little crowded. Get there by 9 to get a lounge chair in the sun! Nice poolside bar. Powerful showers and nice bathrooms. Good size guest rooms that were cozy. Pricey room service--we didn't indulge. Some construction, but not a nuissance. Overall a beautiful hotel and great experience!

At first I was very excited to stay at the Monte Carlo but honestly paying $* for one night I was expecting a lot more then I received. It is obvious to say I am NEVER staying there again and I suggest everyone else do the same.

Staff was friendly and helpful - close to all the sights on the strip. Pool was fun - drinks expensive and lots of kids! But tolerable. The casino was great too! A really good bargain for Vegas!! Summertime - see the sights at night. Less people and much cooler! Stay by the pool!! SUNSCREEN!!!

The walls are thin at the Monte Carlo. Construction noise woke us up every morning at 4:30 am. Constant sound of back up beepers. The hotel moved us to a differnt part of the hotel and you could still hear the back up beepers. We will not stay here again. You could hear the people next door zipping up their suitcases in the morning to leave. Super thin walls. Dont stay here if you like to sleep on your trip!

I called the front desk to straighten out the problem and asked them to send someone up with a key and to help me move. They informed me they were too busy I would have to come down. There is alot of construction around the hotel but there is constrution all over Vegas. We stayed in a room on the 29th floor and never heard any of the construction. We have stayed at the Paris and NY NY in the past and found the Monte Carlo to be just as nice without all the hussle and bussle of the bigger hotels. All in all we enjoyed our stay and will always stay at the Monte Carlo while visiting VEGAS!!!!!

We requested several (>3 times) room changes because of the loud neighbor (there is a connecting door btwn our rm and the next unit), the construction site (noisy jack hammer and truck beeper at 5:30am). We only slept in a quite room for the last two nights. The buffet did not provide service for two days. Some internal construction may cause that. After toured different hotels on the strip, I would say go with New York New York, Luxor with similar budget. There are more fun and food variety in those resorts.

Because we were largely involved with people in a trade show in another hotel we ate at other hotels and in the future we plan to sample more of the Monte Carlo's offerings. WE WILL RETURN.
Nice place, but boring - posted on 10/25/2006
Things must have changed a lot since some of the other reviews. We had no problems with cleanliness, or their providing us with soaps/shampoos. We liked the room very much, but the town was boring. The only entertainment was the casino. The restaurants had terrible food and were grossly overpriced. We tried to leave the resort for food/entertainment, but there is not much nearby. We did enjoy being near Lake Mead and Hoover Dam. I found the fitness center nice, but really hot and couldn't get the air temp down. They needed a fan.

Must be LARGE convention to get good service! - posted on 10/19/2006
We were with a small convention, and we were treated as such: meeting rooms not cleaned; no "thank you for staying", catering slow to serve, nickel-and-dimed us to death! Too much construction, pools closed for construction; the open one closed at 5:00pm!!! We were literally thrown out of pool area, after being YELLED at that the pool was closed. Casino nice and clean - not smoky. No coffee makers, fridges, etc. 30+ minute wait for Starbucks - the only place to get coffee. Would not recommend this hotel.

Pros & Cons - posted on 10/13/2006
The casino area is nice, not too crowded but still plenty of action. The delears and pit bosses are friendly. The drink servers come around frequently when you tip them. The pool area was terrible, no sun. They are doing construction next door and half of the pool area is closed. They tried to section off an area to get sun (9 chairs fit in, so everyone is fighting over the tiny area of sun). Not the place to go if you wanted to relax by the pool & catch some rays during the day. They told us the construction could take a year or so.
Sunless - posted on 10/12/2006
The lazy river and wave pool were closed. The little pool that was open was COMPLETELY IN SHADE except between 2PM and 4PM. Coming from Chicago weather, sunning by the pool is a MAJOR part of my vacations.

Half the pool was closed. There was construction going on so there was lots of noise and no veiw. Checking in is difficult. the service in the poker room is good.
Moderate in Las Vegas - posted on 10/05/2006
The casino was comparable to others visited on the strip that were of the same age and newer. The room was fine and clean but missing a towel bar handy by the sink. There IS a many-years-long construction project next to the hotel, and construction noise started early every day -- it's not terribly loud, but in a city where guests go to bed late... In the future, I would request a non-Strip view so as to be on the opposite side of the hotel from the construction.
Overpriced in Las Vegas - posted on 10/04/2006
I've spent many vacations in Vegas and the Monte Carlo is by far the most overpriced hotel to date. It was overcrowded, resulting in no chairs/room at the pool or lazy river. Long waits for elevators. Slots were not hitting--again, having spent alot of time in Vegas, you know the difference. The food was overpriced--there's nothing special about any of it and there's nothing below $10 outside of the food court.

Hassled over a non-smoking room - posted on 10/02/2006
We were given a smoking room, despite my online request. When I called to get a new room, I was told that non-smoking rooms weren?t guaranteed. Eventually a cranky supervisor came on the line. I explained I had my baby with me and that I was an asthmatic. She argued and I had to get pushy. Eventually, we were moved to a non-smoking room. To be fair, their web site was clear that non-smoking rooms weren?t guaranteed, but obviously they were not sold out since we were eventually moved. I didn?t appreciate being hassled and I won?t stay there again.

The hotel was clean and smelled good, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. However, there is 24-hour-a-day construction on the lot adjacent to the hotel. Great small hotel - posted on 09/08/2006
Even though the hotel seems large, the hotel is smaller than other LV hotels making for a nicer experience. You are close to the pool, food court, casino, etc. The 3 pools are great but you have to get there early (7am) if you want a chair anywhere near any of the pools. There are plenty of chairs in a section which literally bakes you in the sun and is a walk to get to the pool. Had to wait to get my security box-would have been nice to have safes in the rooms. Staff was very accomodating and friendly. Great

All and all a nice hotel to stay at. The pools are close to the elevators & you don't have to walk through the casino to get to them. The air conditioning was not good, the room was not as cool as I would have liked it to be. The rooms need some updating and you can hear your neighbors showering at all times of the day which makes for an incomplete night of sleeping. Cocktail service by the pool was great. There is a big construction project next store so you are awakend by trucks beeping at all times of the night. Brewery & Blackstone's were great.
a little dull..... - posted on 09/02/2006
Well, the Monte Carlo is in some need of revitalization. The hotel itself is very pretty. The rooms, however, lack personality. They are just plain blah furniture and colorless bedding. Not that you would spend much time in it, but when you do, you like to feel like you are somewhere special. I did not feel that at MC. The hotel also does not have much entertainment going on besides Lance Burton show, which by the way, is nothing spectacular. Its okay. Would not spend money on it again. I will not stay at Monte Carlo again, a little too boring for my taste.

The parking garage was under construction, made it hard to find a parking spot, but at night they would only let people who were staying there park in the lot. Its a smaller casino so you don't get lost. Rooms were adequate, beds were comfy. We got there on a Weds. morning and were able to check-in right away and the room was ready. One drawback was no fridge or mini bar in the room to keep drinks cold.

An excellent experience. Beds were the most comfortable I've ever had at a hotel. Construction outside the back of the hotel was not an issue, never heard any noise. Pool area was very nice definitely family friendly. Would not hesitate to stay there again. Great value for the money. Use of the spa is extra, not included in room fees unlike other hotels. The showerhead was a cheap high pressure valve, which really is our only complaint about staying there. Rooms were very clean and nice. One of the better casinos on the strip and definitely one of the best values.
Not impressed - posted on 08/04/2006
Not impressed. Requested two high rooms together because of construction. Took an "upgrade" for $60 for two rooms together, on a high floor, with a view of the construction? Wanted a weekend away from kids. Unfortunately wave pool and lazy river are BIG attractions for families with kids. $12 to rent a tube; $15 to buy one at the gift shop. CVS next door has same tube for $3.99. Ate at Brew Pub twice. Food good, service terrible. 25 minutes before approached - 1 1/2 hours for breakfast. Complained and offered a bloody mary, not a free meal? Definitely will NOT return to MC.

The hotel did not have a Laundromat, a coffeepot, microwave, or refrigerator in the room. We stayed in a handicapped room. However we thought the bathroom was inadequate for a handicap person. The handrails were not strategically placed, the shower was difficult to use, the towel rack was misplaced. Suggestion - have a handicapped person design the bathroom. You advised us about the ongoing construction projects . You failed to mention the early hour construction began every day, before sunup. We were awakened every morning to the ding, ding, ding of heavy construction equipment backing up.

The casino was impressive in that it was brightly lit and it smelled really good and even though it would get crowded, it never seemed crowded or loud, when you entered it (in comparison to others on the strip which were so smoke filled and dark and dreary, they were actually depressing). Our room was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the maids attended to everything each day. We never had to ask for a thing. It's in a great place on the strip too. It was a starry night when we arrived in Vegas at 11:30 at night. We arrived at the Monte Carlo after a tiring trip. It may not be the biggest hotel or have a gimmick for people to come and visit, but it suited our needs. There was always room at the gambling tables or slot machines. When you need a break, the pools were a great way to relax or you could browse through the shops (where prices were reasonable). Monte Carlo's location was also a good spot on the strip. The staff was courteous and friendly, making our vacation enjoyable
Great location, good stay - posted on 04/26/2006
Monte Carlo is a good choice when staying on the strip in Las Vegas. The prices are usually reasonable and the rooms are nice. It's also in a great location on the strip. It's not the Bellagio, but it's also not Circus Circus.

The hotel was absolutely amazing. The location was even better. We were centrally located on the strip and were walking distance to everything.

My stay at the Monte Carlo was pleasant, but I've stayed at better hotels in Vegas before. The one thing that was a bit disappointing was the size of the room. It was quite snug, but overall it is a very nice and clean hotel.

I found the Monte Carlo Resort and Casino to be an ahh ha moment in Vegas. While the other Casino are flash and noise I found walking into the hotel to be a relaxing experience. I enjoyed spending time in the casino, pool and restaurants because of their charm and peacefulness.

Stayed at the Monte Carlo over easter weekend. Vegas was booked solid as was the resort but this place is huge and you couldn't tell they were completely booked. The casino was never over packed and actually paid out quite well. The room I stayed in was very clean and exactly what I expected from reading reviews and seeing online pictures. Easy access to buffet, but kind of pricey to eat. Had a great time and would recommend to others

this is about our 6th time at the Monte Carlo and once again we were not disappointed. Staff was wonderful and everything looked as new as it did six years ago. Dinner Buffet was outstanding as was their steakhouse restaurant. I wish they would put another pool and sun area where the tennis courts are as the pool area gets filled very quickly. great place!
Never again - posted on 04/13/2006
I booked at the MC because I heard it was a great place to stay, and I wanted to celebrate my bday in Vegas. I will never again stay here for the following reasons: 1) the walls were extremely thin, 2) we were treated like dirt at the steakhouse and their pub/brewery (mostly from the waitress), 3) Hotel staff forgot a few things in our room (iron, towels, etc) and the sheets were bloody on one of our beds. After being treated like worthless garbage at the restaurants, who wants to gamble here?!

The best value on the strip - convenient location and well-appointed rooms. A special request for timing of room service was handled flawlessly. Wide range of dining options.

I had read review about the Monte Carlo and I can say that I definitely would return there. If you have children, it is very good hotel to stay. It has a good pool and is located right in the middle of the strip but slightly off center so it doesn't have the unwanted traffic. As far as the room they were clean and comfortable.
Great first time! - posted on 04/06/2006
This was our first trip to Vegas and we had a Fabulous time. The hotel was great, not as big as some others on the strip. This was nice as it was never too crowded and we could find our way around easy. Will definitely be back!

The food at this hotel is really good. The Salon needs to be more of a full service salon and the rooms could be a bit cleaner.

I was going to a conference in one of those condo like hotels, it had been given a mediocre review here, so booked at Monte Carlo instead. I am so happy I did. MC was less expensive and so much nicer. This is the first time I read the reviews and will definetly use them in the future. I feel my money was well spent at the Monte Carlo. It is gorgeous and very well maintained. The room was well apponted and comfortable.

Great Place To Stay - posted on 03/18/2006
First time staying at MC and we really enjoyed both the hotel and the casino. It was nice how spread out the casino was, it didn't seem as crowded as others. Our room was nice with an average view. I was a little worried about how noisy I had read it was, but it didn't seem that bad. The service was great at the restaurants and our room. We both enjoyed our stay and are planning a trip back in Dec. and will definately stay at the MC again.

This hotel has an amazing exterior, wide variety of dining, a great pub for those who love microbrews and beautiful rooms for the price. Only drawback is the very thin walls. Luckily it was just my friends next door so I didn't mind listening to them, but you could hear everything that was said over a whisper. Also, one of our rooms had a shower that didn't drain properly and our room the toilet didn't flush properly.

Even though this hotel is located on "the strip", it is nestled back off the street just enough to create an atmosphere of calmer, understated elegance. If you are looking to be near the hotels and casinos with the in your face action or the ultra high end price tags without having to stay at them, but still have the quality and standards of a chain such as Marriott, then this is a good choice.

This is the second vacation in two years that we have stayed at the Monte Carlo and you just can't beat the value you get for the price. The location is great, you are surrounded by economical eating establishments(which provide vegetarian dishes) and the hotel is clean-most important!

This was our second trip to the MC. From the conversations via telephone w/casino host to check in all the way to check out, everything about our stay was wonderful. Everyone is friendly and tries to be accomodating. Your patronage is appreciated here. Dinner at Blackstone's is absolutely worth every penny spent. My wife is VERY picky about where she eats and swears that this is one of the best meals of her life. Recommend that everyone stays here.

I go to Vegas about 4 times a year. I got a good to deal to stay at Monte Carlo. It is terrible! If you want to hear your neighbor shower and use the toliet then you are in for a treat. I checked into a room that was not even cleaned. They gave me $25 in food credit and when I checked out they used my accrued comp dollars to pay for that $25. DO NOT STAY HERE.

Value and Location - posted on 01/17/2006
The Monte Carlo provides a great value for someone who would like to stay near the action of the Las Vegas Strip. Located next to New York, New York, rooms are well kept and hotel itself still feels new. The free tram in the back of the hotel gives you access to the Bellagio. It will put you much further down the strip and save you a drive or reduce walking. The Monte Carlo should not be over looked as your hotel choice when visiting Vegas.
We will stay here again! - posted on 01/05/2006
We really enjoyed the Monte Carlo. When you first walk in from the valet it is so nice to walk into a nice lobby instead of right into a casino. I love the set up of totally bypassing the casino when you come in and want to go up to your room. My only complaint is that you can hear through the walls. Our son was crying and the guy next door knocked on our door for him to stop. So they need to work on their sound proofing.

Everytime we have made a trip to Las Vegas, we have made a point to stay at the Monte Carlo. We have stayed at other hotels i.e. MGM but we have found that we always have great time when we stay at Monte Carlo. The Check In line is quick and employees are very friendly. The rooms are always clean. The bathroom is a bit small.
Nice Visit - posted on 01/05/2006
No real problems with the Monte Carlo: Check-in was smooth, room was fine, and consistent with a 3.5 star hotel. May be a little underrated as it lacks the "glitz" of its' neighbors on the strip...
Fun time, reasonable price, good dining - posted on 01/02/2006
The room was clean, check-in was a bit hectic, they would not print out my airline boarding pass at the front desk even though the business office on the second floor would not be open for 15 minutes and I had to leave for the airport, but overall it was a decent hotel

Overall, very pleased with this hotel. Great location on the strip and a friendly and helpful staff. Because of online purchase of rooms, ended up with a smoking suite with two double beds -- on my honeymoon! Staff very quick to help in finding an alternative room for the next morning, however. All in all, would highly recommend.

We have stayed for the past 2 years next door but found we spent more time in the Monte Carlo than our own hotel, The Boardwalk. This year we stayed on the 29th floor with a strip view. The service and the people here couldn't be nicer. There is a Really nice food court for breakfast, and a really nice brew pub for dinner where Purple Reign packs em in!!. I'll be sorry to see the Boardwalk go, but this is a Really Nice replacement.

Our stay at the Monte Carlo had a few problems. Our room was not ready well past check-in and they could only offer a smoking room. The electricity and water were off for part of the morning and they did not notify or say anything. For the price the room is what you would expect. The t.v. has only about 15 channels .

We stayed at the Monte Carlo for 2 nights. the room was clean and the service good. The staff there is courteous, honest and helpful. In fact, I left some belongings there and when I called back the next day, they had been turned in. What impressed me most was it was jewelry. My jewelry made it home before I did. I would recommend the Monte Carlo to everyone. Nice place, nice people, and an excellent value. They saved my vacation. It could have easily been a tragedy.

Upgraded to Monaco suite, heard everybody enter rooms within 50 feet. smoke smell woke us at 5:00am on NON SMOKING floor. Pop machine took money - four floors later machine that worked, act of congress to get $2.00 back. Rooms need remodeling very badly. Pool unusable, no sun due to building blocks sun all day. I am easy to please, but missed this one and you should to. Only received half of 2-1 coupons promissed and insulted when questioned.

I had booked several rooms for the whole family. Everyone raved about the hotel accomodations, the comfort of the beds, the elegance of the hotel. They thought the Monte Carlo casino was the best one on the strip. Many family members mentioned they plan to go back to Las Vegas and stay at the Monte Carlo.

Second stay disappointing - posted on 12/02/2005
First stayed at Monte Carlo five years ago and were pleased so tried it again this time; were disappointed. Gave us a smoking room even with advance reservation. Cigarette burns on dingy carpet, bedspreads worn, stained bedskirt. Moved to a non-smoking room the next night; still smelled smoky, was also worn, floors dirty. Pool area not very clean. Were booked to stay another three nights but went across the street instead. Not the worst hotel but with nicer similarly priced options we won't stay again. Pluses: Great buffet, reasonable price. Staff friendly.

Our first room was tiny and located above (3rd floor) the back alley which was full of dumpsters. 2nd and 3rd nights paid for upgrade to suite (well worth the $40), but noisy neighbors sounded like they were right on top of us and kept us awake from 3AM to 4AM. Next time will pay more and stay in newer hotel/resort.

We will return!

This hotel/casino is terrific. Great location, next to New York-New York, tram to Bellagio, Luxor just below, across from MGM Grand. Perfect level of luxury/class without being snotty. Immaculate. Great checkin, where the lobby is separate from the casino and you don't have to fight the clamor just to check in. Simple TV checkout. Beautiful pools, if small, but they should stay open beyond 6 p.m.

Our only complaint was thin walls. We heard everything outside in the hallway, and our neighbors next door. Marble floor was showing age. The plumbing also needs some work, slow drain and shower head kept falling down. Minor things... Nothing that would deter me from staying there in the future, however. Overall nice place and great location!

Overall, this was a delightful stay. The Wave Pool & Lazy River were wonderful. My 12 year old and 2 year old had a blast! The only negative thing is that you have to walk through the lobby to get to the pool. Would love a more discreet access. The Buffet at the Monte Carlo was fabulous too. A nice variety of food that made everyone happy. The casino was surprisingly smokeless. A definite PLUS from this non-smoker. Rooms were copasetic, housekeeping competent, and we enjoyed the tram ride over to the Belagio. Overall--enjoyed by all!
