Fun In Vegas! - posted on 03/04/2006

Since it was 4th of July weekend, the line for the shuttle from the strip was so long that some people walked the half mile. The casino staff was extremely nice. We wanted to learn craps, so they answered questions if we had them. This hotel was in a great location for me because I was training for a marathon and needed to get a 14 mile run in during my vacation. I just turned right out of the hotel and ran for 7 miles and then turned around and came back. I felt very safe the whole time.

Great casino, good dining areas, wonderful staff. Beds to soft for me and shower noisy, shuttles start later than I found convenient. Good deal for the price.

This hotel is off the strip, in a safe clean neighborhood, the shuttle is convenient to the Barbarry Coast on the strip. I noticed the shuttle drivers very helpful with Senior Citizens. Plenty of hot water and water pressure for showering, we were on the top floor, it was quiet. They let you keep your bags there after checkout until your departure flight.

Great price, decent Room - posted on 08/24/2005

The room was nice for the price we were paying. I think the bathroom needs more room. Your hardly able to shut the door and sit comfortable when you have to use it. We still had a nice time.

Well, when I checked in the front desk person hardly smiled at me and she just gave me my keys & didn't tell me the way to our room are. She just handed to me the coupon book and the card for playing...she should at least took time explain to me what they are & how to use them....the wait for the shuttle was long.

New heat/ac units very quiet and nice. Door closers now keep doors from slamming, big improvement over the past. Food is very good in buffet and cafe but outstanding in Italian restaurant. Staff friendly and accommodating. Will be back.

Good value - posted on 04/20/2007

I've stayed here several times - mainly because I get a good night of rest for a very good price. Convenient parking and nice workout room adjacent to pool. Breakfast buffet is about $7.00 with lots of choices. Non-smokers beware - just walking from elevator to the buffet will readily remind you that the casino is a smoker's paradise. Take the outdoor walk, past the pool, to get to the buffet. The fresh air walk is well worth the few extra steps.

We love it!! - posted on 04/17/2007

We were very pleased with our stay at the Coast.( We usually stay at the MGM.) For the money and the amenities, Gold Coast wins hands down. I plan on staying there from now on. What a great value! And one of the BEST hotel beds we've ever slept on. The stuttle service was great. Security was mobile and visible, which is more than I can say for some of the other casinos on the strip. NIce, quiet, secure, clean, with bowling & bingo and a great buffett- - won us over. Thanks for a great vacation!!!

GREAT CHOICE - posted on 02/26/2007

For two different stays in Feb. '07 my rooms were both on 9th floor - nice views. Rooms are updated, spacious & squeaky clean; nice bathtub enclosures with casement window at end of tub. LCD TVs in rooms are not adjusted properly. Staff was great, various dining rooms reasonably priced & other stores like Seattle's Best Coffee, ice cream parlour, gift shop in lobby. Easy 2-3 minute shuttle ride over to the mid-Strip area (Barbary Coast, Caesar's, Bellagio, Bally's corner on Flamingo). Very, very pleased & will bring friends & family back.

Best buffet of our 7-day stay - posted on 12/28/2006

We didn't want to be at one of the huge casino/hotels and felt comfortable here, though the soft beds were not what we would have preferred. Our car facilitated easy access to all locations. The dinner buffet is truly outstanding. so good, in fact, that we elected to return on our last night, while staying at another hotel. We stayed at a total of three hotels during our week's visit and would definitely return to the Gold Coast if the price were as good as it was Dec. 20-21.

Time Away - posted on 12/18/2006

The Gold Coast was exactly what I expected. I was a expecting a nice, off-the-strip hotel...and that's what it was. The room was clean. The bathroom area was OK (yes, there isn't much room between the toilet and the door, but it's not a big deal). One great feature was the water pressure (and hot water) in the shower. The only issue I had was since this is an older hotel, there was more smoke in the casino are than at some of the newer hotels.

The hotel was ok. The rooms are somewhat outdated with very small, brown bathrooms in the rooms. The new tv's were nice, however they did not have the image ratio set up properly resulting in the picture being stretched and distorted. The front desk didn't know what we were talking about and we were unable to change the picture ourselves.

I usually like to stay in higher end hotels and was not looking forward to staying at this hotel. Not glitzy but good value - posted on 11/02/2006

Our seven-night stay was very comfortable. We played the casino every day and relied on the shuttle service to the Barbary Coast to get to/from the strip. Loved the weekday breakfast buffet. The free scoop of ice cream from the fun book is huge! Our non-smoking room was clean with an awesome king sized bed. The casino ladies were very nice and the drinks frequent. Unfortunately the d?r is very outdated and the casino is unbearably smoky; the smokiest of all. We spent a lot of our time on the strip or across the street at the Palms casino.

Worth every cent. - posted on 10/04/2006

The Good: Place was way cheap, clean, friendly staff and a ?local casino? next to major resorts. The Bad: Not the kind of place to impress your date and the LAST run of the shuttle that takes you to the strip is at 12:30 in the morning? not good. Especially in Las Vegas! Otherwise you have to fork out the dough for a taxi ride (20 bucks or so), they really should have the last run of the shuttle at 2:00 am or so.

Wonderful Staff - posted on 09/29/2006

Hotel was clean and the a/c was wonderful. Room was your basic hotel room, but the service was fantastic, courteous & prompt. We arrived hours early and they worked to get a room ready for us and stored our luggage. We were able to get a roll away bed on short notice, no charge. The staff was better than any I have encountered at more expensive resorts. This hotel met my needs and exceeded them. Room service was prompt and inexpensive. We were able to travel to the strip and outlet malls with no trouble and little expense. I would stay here again.

Staying at the Gold Coast is nice. It is just over the freeway from the strip. So we were close but could get away if we wanted to. You can bowl and play bingo which was fun. The bed was comfortable and the TV awesome. Will stay at the Gold Coast again. We will not go to the Hard Rock Hotel or Casino we had all of our luggage stolen from their parking garage the first hour we were in Vegas. Stopped for lunch and when we came back the car was empty. Sucked but the Gold Coast was a nice hotel.

very good bargain - posted on 09/23/2006

Gold Coast was a great bargain and was very comfortable. Beds were great, flat screen TV, internet in room, clean, good service for room. Food was ok - good depending on what you order. RIO across the street, eat there. Gold Coast has a lot of video poker, almost too much, I miss my Elvis machines! Many locals play here on the tables and it is crowded even on weeknights. Bingo room is huge and part is non-smoking which was great for me. Exercise room is no extra charge and the pool was heated and still open in September. A good experience, plenty of parking too.

Check in was a breeze but the room was sub-par at best. Stains on the carpet, very noisy A/C unit. Ugly and cramped bathroom Two of the restaurants at the hotel were just plain awful! To the point of not being able to finish the meal. The casino is the smokiest casino I've ever been in. It's almost like there's no ventilation. We ended up spending most of our time across the street at either the Rio or The Palms. This will be the last time I ever stay at this particular hotel.

Clean room! Reasonable prices.I'd paid more for different hotels and were not as clean. Have plasma TVs. Bathroom was a bit small, but clean. Hotel services was excellent, Need to improve on shuttle services, we got into one shuttle, thinking it's going to every sister hotel of Gold Coast. It did not! shuttles are scheduled to run between specific hotels. No sign on the bus indicated it. Once you are already on it, there were a little note saying, if you were not going to such and such hotel, you are on the wrong bus! Need to put the sign outside of the bus so people would know.

I enjoyed my stay with absolutely no problems with the hotel and casino. The workers seemed more friendly and wanted to please. Actually got smiles from many of the workers. Many food options and as reasonable as anywhere within in strip area. Would have liked the shuttle to run a couple of hours later as we seemed to have trouble catching it in time at night. Overall a great place to stay without all the noise and hastle of the strip.

If you're looking for basic comforts with no frills or glamour, this is it. It didn't feel like Las Vegas in our room, no view and a very small space with bare essentials. However, the king bed and flatscreen TV were pluses. I would definitely recommend the steakhouse inside the casino for its wonderful prime rib--the best ever!

This was our first trip to Vegas and we feel fortunate that we found the Gold Coast. Cheapest food we found in Vegas, but GOOD! Free shuttle to and from the other Coast Hotels great, but be prepared to adjust to their schedules or pay for a cab. There were a few glitches with our rooms, but the hotel was quick to accomodate our needs and gave us vouchers for a free dinner for our trouble. Great Progressive Penny Slots with decent paypouts! Enough off the beaten path to keep the crowds down, but close enough to the Strip for easy access.

Good deal if you can handle smoke - posted on 05/17/2006

After reading reviews online, I decided to give the Gold Coast a try. The good news: the rooms were generous, clean, and comfortable, the buffet was good. The whole 6th floor is non-smoking. The bad news: the whole downstairs reeks of smoke. They don't have the quality of air filtration or whatever that the bigger hotels have. In all fairness, I live in MA where smoking is not allowed in any public buildings, so some of this was just a shock to the system. The buffet was pretty good. If I smoked, I would stay here all the time - great value and nice rooms.

I enjoyed everything at the Gold Coast except the service. I specifically indicated that I had wanted two queen beds. Upon entering my hotel room, I was surprised to find only one king size bed. When I called the front desk, I was told there were no other rooms available. My other dissatisfaction occurred when I asked to get a later check out time. I was told that they needed all that time for cleaning the room and late check out was not approved. Other than these problems, the Gold Coast was suitable, and I would probably stay there again.

I Would Stay Again - posted on 11/17/2005

This place is IDEAL for a business person. Xllent Price, room service was not open 1 nite (12am) when I chose 2B lazy & not leave my room. who cares about the size of the bathroom when u r n VEGAS? Palms & Rio directly across street. I stayed 4 nites and paid LESS than $180 total Now that's VALUE. The Buffet has better food than the other gold cast restaurant's "I would stay again.

Not so good specially considering the price. The rooms could use a little work.

Our 27th trip to Las Vegas - posted on 10/02/2005

My wife is a wheelchair user, and the accessible rooms are at the end of the hall and not by the elevators. There was no stopper for the sink and hot water did't exist. The buffet was great for breakfast and dinner. Lots of handicapped parking in the indoor parking lot. Great fun book at check in. Handicapped room has a roll in shower.

Good & Bad - posted on 09/09/2005

My husband and I have stayed here twice, once by ourselves, once with our children. I would never stay there again with my kids (not enough for them to do) but it was not bad for my husband and I. One thing that really irritated me was that no elevators were working for a few days of our last trip. We were walking up and down 6 flights of stairs. Other than that

Spacious rooms and very comfortable. Lavatory quite small. Large, open casino with low minimum limits

Great Location and Best Value - posted on 08/02/2005

Located west of the Strip on West Flamingo. Easy access to north and south strip by back routes. (10-20 minutes) The Rio and Palms are across the street. The Palms has a 16 screen Brendan Movie Theatre and a great food court. The Gold Coast is a mid-range casino/hotel with all the amenities of a large casino/hotel at reasonable prices. The room was clean and average size. The only minus is a tiny pool for the size of the hotel. Do not go there for the pool. I would stay at the Gold Coast on a short visit to Las Vegas.

Gold Coast Review - posted on 07/09/2005

The pillows were truly awful. They were more like a square throw pillow than a bed pillow. The vanity being in the bedroom made it very hard to get ready to go without waking everyone else in the room. Staff was excellent except when we asked for help after the shuttle bus we ordered didn't show. It wasn't really an issue for them. We were just told "Well I guess you need to find a cab or something". The food was very good. The after-midnight specials are a great deal.

A Pleasant experience - posted on 06/25/2005

Great jazz & top 40 lounge bands; nice fun book comps (free drinks and ice cream and bowling); clean room and casino; friendly staff; bell hop went out of his way to give me directions around town; every single employee was nice and helpful; shuttle to strip/barbary coast was convenient.

Geat to stay - posted on 06/13/2005

This hotel is convenient & well priced. Offer great meal deals. Friendly staff. Resonable priced. Conveniently located. Good place to gamble. Has latest slots. Comfortable rooms. Only dislike were small bathrooms (but heck how much time will you spend there anyway), and the swimming pool could be bigger and cleaner. Overall enjoyed the stay, and will defintely stay there again next year.
