The Riv was O.K. - posted on 05/30/2005
We stayed at the Riv for 3 nights and we had fun. The buffet was not the best in town for dinner but I had a very good breakfast there. I would go back...
good for the price - posted on 04/17/2005
Hotel is at the Northern end of strip, the older Vegas, so if you want to see all of the newer Vegas, you need to head down to the center and southern end of the strip. The hotel is hard to navigate at first. I suggest you follow the map provided. They have a food court, and Hound Doggies!--everything on the menu is .99 cents. The casino is never too crowded. A must see is the Neil Diamond Tribute Live by Jay White. Beds were very comfortable. We asked for extra pillows several times, but never got them! The room we had was nice and clean!
Overall Good - posted on 08/16/2006
This hotel always seems to offer one of the best packages to be on the strip. I have stayed there on 2 visits and have found it to be very satisfactory. The place could use a little uplifting, but seriously if you are Las Vegas to enjoy what it has to offer, why does your room need to be the best around? We would go back to our room to change clothes or sleep and it was perfectly fine for that. They have the absolute best BLT on their room service menu that I have ever had!
Great Time - posted on 07/03/2006
We have stayed there several times, and have always been pleased with the service. We have a great time in "Penny Town". The drink service is frequent, and the prices at "Hound Doggies" are very reasonable for the quality of the food.
What's Missing From the Strip - posted on 06/28/2005
Service: Check-in was awful. Stood in line for over 45 minutes then told to get in antoher line. Our first room had sopping wet carpet. Housekeeping staff were pleasant. No room ammenities (coffee maker, blow dryer, refrigerator) Blow dryer available for 2 hour usage and then a $50 fee applied. Ample food choices at good prices. Even for the savings would not choose this hotel again.
very old hotel - posted on 05/15/2007
Had to stay here for a conference. did not get requested non smoking room, the room smelled, noisy construction outside of room, windows dirty, poor service and food in asian restaurant, got lost finding my room, poor signage, no offer of bell service, breakfast buffet cheaper than dining in restaurant, I won't stay here again.

One room had bed bugs or coackroaches in it ! And dirty to top it off .
avoid the riviera - posted on 04/21/2007
I've only been here 2 hours but YUCK. I was guarenteed a non smoking room in writing but when I checked in, it "wasn't available". Their service at the front desk didn't help at all. Housekeeping was called to "spray the room"- all they did was open a window that then jammed and they had to call a mechanic. I hear LOTS of disgruntled "customers". AVOID THE PLACE
first time visitor - posted on 04/11/2007
Room was comfortable and clean. Pillows were hard. Everyone was nice. Only real complaint was the smoke from casino seemed to permeate entire hotel, even in nonsmoking rooms.
outdated - posted on 03/24/2007
This hotel was probably pretty nice at one time. Everything is pretty much worn down. The staff was helpful. Garage was not a place to be after dark.
Manor Hell - posted on 03/23/2007
The manor rooms are across the street from the hotel so you have to walk outside to get to you room. The rooms stink (literally) and this area of Vegas is not safe. The hotel staff is extremely rude. This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. Stay away unless you don't care about cleanliness or foul odors.
good place for students - posted on 03/21/2007
for students/ those who want to save their money for other things, this is a great place. not too far from the heart of the strip, and no problems during our stay.
Horrible experience - posted on 03/11/2007
Booked a non-smoking room because my wife has bad asthma. We were told they only had smoking rooms available by the time we got to the check in counter. No attempt to compensate us, no offer to fix the situation even though we prepaid a month before. Staff was very rude when I mentioned this was a problem medically. Breakfast buffet was lousy and overpriced. We frequent Vegas but will NEVER stay here again.
I would not recommend - posted on 03/08/2007
When we checked in the front desk person was really friendly, but we were upgraded to a suite and it was not nice and the bed was old, the pillows were garage sale quality and overall the place was just dirty looking. The money we spent in taxis to places we wanted to go would have made up for the money we spent on the less expensive hotel. There are not a lot of nice casinos around this hotel. Stay on the opposite end of the strip or middle.
Great Time - posted on 01/25/2007
My husband and I enjoyed a week at the Riviera. The staff was great, house keeping was on the ball and very helpful. The room was alright, we had a great view. We had lots of fun in the casino. I will stay there again.
Pleasantly Surprised - posted on 01/19/2007
After reading all the negative reviews, was a little worried bout booking this hotel, but we were pleasantly surprised. Very nice staff, clean room. We booked a nonsmoking room, but none were available. We were upgraded to a NS suite at no additional charge. Nice restaurant, very good food. I would recommend this hotel to friends. We did stay in the new tower so rooms might have been nicer than others.
You get what you pay for - posted on 01/18/2007
An old hotel. No personal connnection. Automated check in. You don't even get to talk to a human. The rooms are bare. The shampoo and soap are cheap. They don't change the sheets daily. The location is too far from the other big casinos. Take the bus to get to the other casinos. Cab fares are too high. Remember, this is an older hotel and the price was right. I had more money with which to gamble.
DISAPPOINTED - posted on 12/27/2006
THE ROOM WAS NOT WHAT I EXPECTED, THERE ARE NO COFFEE MACHINE IN THE ROOM OR REFRIGERATOR.
everday life - posted on 12/08/2006
This hotel is very posh and lovely. I really didn't find much about it to be unique to them. This is a great hotel if you don't want to be some where where everything pops.
Fair stay - posted on 11/29/2006
The riviera is getting "up in age". It showed the signs, pretty much. We did enjoy the Italian restaurant very much. The coffee shop was pretty good, too. All-in-all just a fair stay, nothing outstanding.
Bad Experience - posted on 11/25/2006
I was provided with Smoking room even though I reserved non somoking. I had to pay extra to upgrade to a mini suite to get a non smoking room. even with all the extra bucks the room is not worth for the money. I would never stay here again and would recommend not to choose this to stay. you can stay in a motel instead paying a lot and get the same experience.

A Great Room. The breakfast buffet was not good and over priced. We were afraid to try the others. In room coffee would have been nice. No complaints other than food and coffee. Nice staff.
Clean Convenient Hotel - posted on 10/29/2006
Very clean, well maintained, and convenient hotel. Had alot to offer from casino and restaurants to great shows and shops.Only complaint we had was that we were give a smoking room when requested and booked a non smoking room.We were upgraded to a mini suite, non smoking room the next day at no additional cost. I would recommend this hotel to other travelers and would return to the Riviera in the future.
Upgrade rooms - posted on 10/25/2006
Rooms are outdated and the walls are paper thin. We could hear people talking in their rooms right through the walls. Bright spotlights outside hotel kept us from sleeping very well. But they did upgrade us to a nonsmoking suite due to my wifes pregnancy.
Riviera Hotel - posted on 10/23/2006
It is a clean hotel and does not smell of smoke. People were polite. I recommend the Italian resturant to eat. The buffet can be bypassed. You can check in through a computer and check out from your room.
Riviera Stay - posted on 10/15/2006
My stay was very nice, but the hotel left a bad taste when I checked out. They charged an energy fee when I checked out, which I thought was bull. I bought a package, I want everything included. I don't want to be snuck up on at the end.
WORST VEGAS TRIP EVER - posted on 10/11/2006
I have been to Vegas SEVERAL times in the past several years. We always have a wonderful time. This time, unfortunately, was not so wonderful. I will NEVER go back to this hotel again. To gamble, to stay, not even to eat. Every single person I came in contact with that worked there was rude. The buffet was horrible and over-priced and the rooms stunk! Word of advice, DO NOT EVER STAY AT THE RIVIERA!!!!!
Great Fun - posted on 10/10/2006
I had a super time at the Riveria. They have a slot service that no matter what you win, either a jackpot, or a gift. Also, because it was my birthday, the staff upgraded my room and it was wonderful!
NOT UP TO PAR - posted on 10/03/2006
The rooms were clean though run down. The faucet in the bathroom was coming off the wall. There were no irons or hair dryers in the room you had to call for them and then you only had two hours to use them before they wanted them back.

- weird body fluid stains on bedroom and bathroom walls -nickeled and dimed for everything - $8.95 continental breakfast? At this dump? -rude staff. -the few nice staff were powerless to help due to policies.
Bad experience - posted on 09/20/2006
We had to stay in a very smelly smoking room when we wanted a non-smoking room. The smell made us sick for the rest of the trip!!!
Riviera Hotel - posted on 09/19/2006
My room was adequate, but I was given a smoking room though I asked for non-smoking. Restaurant prices in hotel were all high, other than fast food hot dogs. Coffee was very expensive everywhere. Pool was closed most of the time and it cost $12 to use spa.
Great Trip - posted on 09/18/2006
I was favorably impressed with the Riviera and got a great rate for a hotel on the strip.

Most people who go to Vegas, just want a place to lay their head and to bathe.....that's just what we had.
Never Going Back - posted on 09/09/2006
We stayed at the Riviera for a wedding in Vegas and it was the pits. The wallpaper was peeling off the walls, the tub had black mildew, we only had 1 visit from the cleaning crew in 3 days, and I think the filters in the AC needed replaced and/or were moldy because my allergies were in full force while I was in the room. I won't stay here again.
RUDE PEOPLE! - posted on 08/22/2006
This hotel is such a mess. I would not advisse anybody to stay here. The people, staff, housekeepers are rude. The bathrooms are a mess. i would not come back ever again.
Worst Hotel - posted on 07/31/2006
I had the worst experience ever. This hotel was the worst hotel I have ever been to. Bad service and rude staff are the best features of Riviera hotel and casino. The rooms don't get any cleaning as long as you occupy the room. You request towels or anything and it takes 3 or for calls and you're lucky to get them in three hours. NEVER AGAIN!
Won't return - posted on 07/29/2006
The price was low, the shows looked interesting, the pool was nice. The main complaint that we had was that there were no non-smoking rooms left when we checked in at 5 PM. We thought that we had reserved a nonsmoking room. The room reeked and when we checked out our clothes smelled of smoke. For such a large hotel to not have enough nonsmoking rooms seemed insane. Also the ice maker on our floor was broken and the time it took the front desk to pick up the phone was very long. Basically though the main complaint was the smoky, smelly room.

Great rate and nice hotel - posted on 01/03/2006
THis hotel was very clean and in the prefect spot. Being at the end of the strip made it less congested with vehicle traffic when we left. It's location allows the traveler to walk easily to most of the megaresorts. It was the only hotel on the strip that did not triple the rate (or worse) from Thursday to Friday night stay on Christmas weekend
Fair - posted on 12/10/2005
The hotel rooms need to be upgraded especially the bathroom which looked very old. Overall the hotel was clean and the casino was nice. The shows were good and the casino gave out free wheel spins which allowed you to win prizes. Dinner buffet was nice and the staff was very pleasant.

The Riviera has the feeling of old Vegas. Being on the Strip yet away from the hectic newer area. We had a Great time and will return. Splash was Fantastic and the slots are plentiful.

Had a Great time - posted on 03/24/2005
My Husband and I stayed at the Riviera last year, and we have already booked again this year. I have no complaints about any thing, except the Splash bar smelled kind of funky. You can ride the Trolley any where on the strip for $2.00, so I cant complain about the location.
Lousy - posted on 03/07/2005
Our stay here was not great. The check-in/out was a hassle. In order to use an iron we had to sign for it. Waited for 3 hours for an iron, and had to pay for keeping it over 2 hrs. Staff didn't inform us of extended check out time. We also didn't like the location. The north end of the strip is so much better. But being in Vegas for the 1st time we didn't know.
