Bellevue is only a short drive away from Omaha making it a great destination if you want to get away from ‘the big city’. It is here you’ll find the Durham Western Heritage Museum. Located in the old Union Station this restored building has many great artifacts on display but wandering through this beautiful place is reason enough to come. If you are interested in looking at older buildings make sure you visit the Presbyterian Church, Log Cabin and Fontenelle Bank, which were all built in the mid 1800s.
The 900-acre property of Boys Town is a neat place to explore, even though the reason for its existence is sobering. Founded in 1917 it became a home for over 500 neglected youth. Most people come to visit the Hall of History and the amazing Garden of the Bible.
Enjoy the outdoors? Make sure you take advantage of the beautiful trails in Fontenelle Forest. Although Bellevue has many historic places, the Strategic Air and Space Museum is one of a kind. This 300,000 square-foot building has an impressive collection of planes, missiles and other airborne items. Bellevue is definitely worth the trip.
