Set minutes from the airport and in the heart of Downtown, the Historic Norther Hotel is a throw-back to a simpler past. Located in Billings, Montana, a string of recent owners have attempted renovations to bring the hotel more up-to-date but have also focused on preserving its American West appeal. With 160 rooms and 50 suites, the ten story hotel provides plenty of options for travelers staying on business or for pleasure. There is a banquet area with mirrored ballroom and a stage for performers that can honor up to 570 guests. Attached, as well, is 10,000 square feet of convention room space suited to up to 1500 guests. Rooms are fitted with a standard array of amenities - coffee maker, hair dryer and more - while offering options for non-smokers, handi-abled visitors and pet owners. In addition, the historic Golden Bell Restaurant and Saloon has reopened on-grounds, providing you with the perfect place to take in a meal seasoned with atmosphere.

Former guests who loved the Historic Northern commented on the charm, the preservation of the building's history, and downplayed problems met by others who - as a majority - found this hotel sub-par in almost every aspect. Most worrisome in recent reports are the suggestions of staff's disconnected approach, and their disinterest in security issues regarding their guests, particularly during large-scale events. Other problems included small beds, electrical problems with air conditioners, heaters and lights, and disastrous catering experiences where the staff was rude and food ranged from cold to inedible regardless. The Historic Northern Hotel Accommodations

Basic rooms come with a coffee maker, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, 27 inch color television with remote, as well as new mattresses in some rooms and architectural features such as refurbished cherry wood furnishings. Upgrades include junior suites with spacious parlors, sitting rooms, larger beds and work stations.

The Historic Northern provides complimentary airport shuttle service from Billings Logal International. Car rental is located near the hotel. Guests will find complimentary breakfast available in the mornings. Business travelers will appreciate the high-speed internet available in public areas (for a fee) and the hotel's business center. On-site, you'll find a fitness center, spa and laundry, and premium cable in your room. Event planners have their choice between a mirrored ballroom - with stage - that seats 570 or a 10,000 square foot meeting facility seating up to 1500 attendees. Catering service is also available.
