Vicksburg played an important part in the Civil War as it was the location where the Union defeated the Confederacy for the Mississippi River. The Battle of Vicksburg has left its legacy with the Military Park and National Cemetery as well as the Gray and Blue Naval Museum. This museum has a huge collection of Civil War memorabilia.
Those interested in the arts will love the Gold in the Hills production. It’s been running for over 70 seasons and is featured at the Parkside Playhouse. One of the great sites worth visiting is the Holy Trinity Church. Its steeple can be seen from far away but it’s when you get up close you see the amazing Tiffany windows.
The very first Coca-Cola bottle was in Vicksburg and the museum here have a fantastic collection of coke memorabilia. Make your way downtown for a great time of shopping, dining and even a little bit of gambling.
