Relieved Not to Stay @ IoFS - posted on 04/09/2007
The IoFS is located close to downtown Detroit, which is a + as well as a -. The area surrounding it seems quite poor, and the Inn itself has peeling paint on the front porch and sagging steps. Our first reaction was "what have we gotten ourselves into?" The front lobby was very cold and drafty. As it turned out, the Inn had overbooked us and they sent us to another hotel without even being able to give us an address; just a general direction. We drove around Detroit for an hour before we gave up and called Expedia. Overall, we felt relieved that we would not have to stay at IoFS.

Although a business trip, my stay at the Inn on Ferry Trip felt like a special retreat. Accommodations, staff, shuttle, and sumptuous breakfast combined to make this one of the nicest business trips I've taken. Will definitely be back - soon - and often!
A must stay! - posted on 01/01/2007
We've stayed here 3 times now and look forward to it every time. The staff is wonderful--very friendly and helpful. I needed something notarized and overnighted. They found a place for me within minutes and had a shuttle ready to take us there. We use the shuttle service to go to the local games. The breakfast buffet is excellent and the ambiance of the entire place is great. I can't recommend it enough!

My wife found this gem of a hotel online, and found a great rate here. For the price of a chain motel you can stay in a room in a charming Victorian mansion. Friendly, helpful staff, free shuttle, romantic rooms. We loved it!

Friendly helpful courteous staff. Considerations given to make stay pleasant, but the bath linens were scratchy, towel had tethered threads hiding a hole. Bed linens thin and worn. Horrible pillows. No protein at breakfast. Bread/bagels, grill-a-waffle, hot water for instant oatmeal, cereals, granola bars, and fruit. Will come back for convenience reasons, but will bring own linens. Really, would it cost so much for a little bacon, sausage, or eggs. Something someone actually prepared and made available to guests throughout breakfast hours, not just for those ready to eat at 7a.m.?

I can't wait to stay there again. Very quiet, quaint little place.

These Victorian renovated homes are a gem. Free transportation to theater and sports makes partying downtown very convenient. Very high quality accommodations.

This is the most charming hotel I can imagine for this price and probably the most comfortable I've ever stayed in! Very romantic, beautifully renovated, lots of nice touches, great breakfast (included) and close to the museums and university.

I discovered IoFS several years ago on a recomend from a local. Great choice. Roomy rooms, great restoration, easy to Downtown and I-94. I've used it as a base to go to Troy, even. Museums across the street and within walking distance. They even have Wi-Fi. I'll stay there every trip to Detroit.
Motor City Must Stay - posted on 07/19/2006
These accommodations are the best in the area for the amenities, ambiance, price, location and service. I have traveled nationally and internationally for over thirty years and I would put the Inn on Ferry Street on my top five. I did not want to leave as it felt so much like home. With these reviews...it will not be the best kept secret for long!

This hotel would cost 3x as much in any other city. Charming and extremely comfortable with all the finishing touches. I loved it! Stay here.

We were very pleased with the Inn on Ferry Street. The room was wonderful and the homes were well restored. We even had the opportunity to take a personal tour of all the Inns run by the company.

Beautiful period rooms in lovely buildings. Nice touches like local music CDs in each room. My reservation was a bit messed up, but they made it right. Lovely area near the university with free parking.

Beautiful architecture and decor! All the character and friendliness of a B&B but with the amenities of a hotel (your own bathroom, off-street parking, wireless Internet access, a PC with Internet access in the main building.) Great location for visits to Wayne State U., DIA, Detroit Public Library!
