Hyatt Regency - posted on 04/22/2006

This hotel is not family freindly. The kids were not allowed in the pool because it was a "lap pool." The only restaraunt they offer is overpriced with nothing on the menu to satisfy a child. Most people staying at the hotel were leaving the hotel for meals or ordering pizza delivery. The one meal we ate at the hotel (easter brunch) ran us $180 for 4 people. The brunch was not that great. The beds were excellent. Very comfortable. We were on a non-smoking floor, but the people in the room next to us were smoking and our room stunk of smoke.

the hotel gives you with your rate a free buffet breakfast. the line is so long yu can't get near it. after you finally get a seat the lines so long just to get your food. its awful. also for such a nice hotel they should get better tv sets like most upscale hotels have alread. also $32.00 for valet parking is ridiculous. I got to boston 10 times a year. I will try to find a better rate somewhere else.

Parking ripoff - posted on 02/04/2007

Checking into parking facility, the time agreed with the time on all of our electronic devices. Checking out the time was off by 10 minutes, to the advantage of the parking facility resulting in additional parking fees. Plus it took an additional 20 minutes just to get through the garage as there is only one parking attendant to handle large functions. There were about 35 vehicles waiting in line; you do the math and figure out who is profiting by the errant clock and insufficient help. No reply in response to our complaint from the Hyatt. HUGE RIPOFF!

DON'T STAY THERE - posted on 10/01/2006

Our stay was not pleasant, the rooms were filthy, piles of dirt inside the sliders , dust balls and crap on floor, dirty linens, paint and plaster falling off the walls, no water pressure, etc, etc, etc. We went to the bar to have a drink and the bartender was to busy to wait on us, to many conventions or something going on. We complained and got nowhere.

The Staff was very friendly and helpfull. The hotel was nice. The room was a little small for the two double beds that was in it. Shuttles from the hotel to the "T" stops are infrequent, but it is only 3/4 of a mile to the nearest one. Parking is a little expensive at $28.00 a night for self park.

Not the Best Choice - posted on 06/12/2006

The Hyatt has a lovely view of the Charles River and rooms are large and comfortable, but the staff is extremely rude and unhelpful. Management, when presented with problems, was also very uncooperative. If you are planning on walking and are not renting a car, this hotel is definitely out of the way and is not the most convenient choice. Shuttles from the hotel to tube stops are infrequent and management will not allow drivers to make trips outside of certain hours. If you can't deal with a crabby staff and don't enjoy walking three miles from the T stop to your room, don't stay here.

Favorite Cambridge Hotel - posted on 06/05/2006

I stay here every time I'm in Cambridge. I think their staff is great and the rooms are super-comfortable. Have recommended to everyone I know who is going to Boston/Cambridge, and would return in a heartbeat. A marvelous, friendly staff. Just great!

College visit & historical funtime - posted on 04/20/2006

Hyatt Cambridge was very convenient; walking distance to Boston University, which my daughter and i walked to for open house. The city was easily travelled on the "T". We had a great time. Hyatt could use better bathroom and detail cleaning (picture frames, lamps).

I was expecting a higher quality. This hotel is in need of updating. 1st room had no shower, had a smell, phone did not work. 2nd room had a bath and bugs, peeling wall paper. Since we could not slepp that night with the traffic noise the manager upgraded us and offered half price.Checkingout I found it was 1/2 price on the awful rooms nad full price on the new room. All the rooms had dirty windows. The pool was nice for children & the buffet was fun for children

Overall, a pleasant experience. However, travelers with cars should be aware that there is a significant additional charge for overnight parking ... and there is no possibility for parking on the street.

Room service leaves a lot to be desired. Ordered breakfast and never got it until I called back an hour after it was supposed to be delivered.

Good, but they don't go the extra mile - posted on 08/12/2005

Overall, our stay at the Hyatt was ok, but there were many missing details that are needed to consider this hotel good. We were cold, and the heating did not work. Someone from maintenance said that they would turn it on, but they never did. They are supposed to have a free shuttle, but it gets booked 4-5 hours in advance, so you can't use it for a sporadic trip to the mall or unplanned activities.

would not go back in hot summer months - posted on 07/25/2005

was fairly satisfied with hotel but to get to the Quincy market area of shops and restuarants had to take subway wich was very confusing. if this is first time to boston, do not drive in boston. parking is expensive , and driving is difficult and confusing. hotel was great but to do it again would book closer to quincy market area.also never again in hot humid summer months was miserable with humidity!

Nice hotel, horrible service - posted on 07/19/2005

Nice place with nice rooms but terrible service. We were told we could walk from a nearby subway station to the hotel but it was way too far to walk with luggage. When we finally arrived the concierge was rude. The "shuttle" they say will take you to nearby subway stations, etc. is no more than ONE guy driving ONE minivan. A "couple" of minutes before the next "shuttle" left turned into 20 minutes, and even then they driver didn't seem to know what was going on. Nice place to stay if you avoid the people working there.

Very comfortable room/mattresses! - posted on 07/17/2005

We stayed at the Hyatt Regency Cambridge during our daughter's orientation at Boston U. on the other side of the river. The location was great--only about an 8-10 min. walk to campus. Would have been nice to have been nearer a T-stop, though, for excursions into city of Boston. Also, the shuttle service they advertise was not convenient at all--never worked out for us. The room was amazing, though--very clean and very comfortable. Most comfortable bed/mattress I have ever had at a hotel ever.

PROBLEMS - posted on 07/12/2005

HOTEL HAS NO VAN SERVICE ANYWHERE OUTSIDE OF 2 MILES FROM HOTEL. TAXIS ARE -$20+ TO TOUREST SITES IN BOSTON ONE WAY. HOTEL HAS NO MINI BAR AND NO SNACK MACHINES. HOTEL ELIVATORS ARE SLOW AND 15 MINUTE + WAITS ARE NORMAL. I PAID EXTRA FOR A RIVER VIEW AND WAS NOT GIVEN A ROOM WITH A RIVER VIEW.

Great stay - posted on 06/16/2005

Everything was great! If we had any complaints it would be that there were some sort of ropes on our balcony, due to construction or window cleaning, and they blocked off a large portion of our balcony. So we had this great view that wasn't enjoyed enough!!! Other than that it was a pleasant stay! We would definitely stay there again!

Restaurant Wasnt' Open - posted on 08/31/2004

Upon making reservation, I would have liked to have been informed that the Spinaker Restaurant would not be open the night of our stay. Our choice of your hotel was made with plans of dinner in the restaurant, as we were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary.
