The 222-room Marriott Portland at Sable Oaks is nestled on the hill of the scenic Sable Oaks community, and just minutes from historic downtown Portland. The pet-friendly, non-smoking property offers full facilities for both the business and leisure traveler in a metropolis that is one of the most appealing cities in northern New England. The six-story hotel is adjacent to the Maine Shopping Mall and an 18-hole golf course. The property has nine meeting rooms for business and social functions. The largest, the grand ballroom, can accommodate up to 500 people. The hotel operates a complimentary shuttle to Portland Airport and to the nearby shopping mall.

Several former guests at this Marriott hotel say it is one of their favorite places to stay. They admit there were less expensive places tp stay but said the quality accommodation and tremendous service warranted the prices charged here. All the guest rooms, and five suites, have a well-lit work desk with high-speed Internet access, cable television with movie channels and pay-per-view movies. Other amenities include a hairdryer, bathrobes, iron and ironing board, alarm clock, wet bar, two-line telephone with voicemail and speakerphone, and coffee and tea making facilities.

The hotel’s Fire and Water Restaurant is open for breakfast lunch and dinner. There are several other places to eat nearby including the Bugaboo Steakhouse and DiMillo’s Floating Restaurant. The hotel has an attractive indoor swimming pool with whirlpool and a well-equipped fitness center. There is a full service business center, coin-operated laundry, ATM and room service is available from 6am until 11pm. The 24-hour front desk has safe deposit boxes, a list of restaurants that will deliver to the hotel, and information on area events and attractions.

From Portland Airport (PWM) 2.4 miles: Leaving Portland International Jetport follow signs to Interstate 95. Take I-95 South to exit 45. Follow signs to Maine Mall Road. Take a right onto Maine Mall Road. At fourth stoplight, take a left onto Running Hill Road. Take first right into Sable Oaks. The Portland Marriott is on the left at the top of the hill.
