Bar Harbor Inn is ideal for those who treasure a premier oceanfront resort and luxury spa. The historic Inn offers quality accommodations, fine dining (at the on-site Reading Room Restaurant and Lounge), ultimate personal service,a new luxury spa, and the Inn's own gift Shop. It is within walking distance to shops and activities, and--best of all--it is situated directly on the waterfront! Nestled on Frenchman Bay the Inn has 8 acres of beautifully landscaped lawns and gardens with three guest room buildings--all overlooking a one-half mile shore path. The Inn has been managed by the same ownership for 20 years and has been rated as "Superior First Class" by the Official Hotel Guide. Beautiful and well-equipped facilities are available for business conferences/meetings, weddings, receptions, banquets, and other social functions.

The Bar Harbor Inn lives up to its reputation as offering beautiful views in a wonderful location. But, the rooms need to be updated with newer fixtures and a thorough, detailed cleaning. The Inn's staff can be very accommodating and friendly; but, even though polite, they don't go out of their way to show guests how much they are appreciated. The complimentary breakfast is a nice amenity, but it is a little sparse; and one would think that such a nice resort could offer a full hot breakfast. Read our customer reviews?

Bar Harbor Inn Accommodations

The Bar Harbor Inn has three distinctive guest room buildings that house beautiful and incredibly comfortable guest rooms. All rooms are non-smoking, air-conditioned, with refrigerators, VCRs and HBO TV. The Main Inn is a wing of luxury guest rooms and suites featuring jetted tubs, fireplaces and balconies that overlook the ocean. The Oceanfront Lodge has 64 large, contemporary style rooms with private balconies overlooking the ocean. The deluxe complimentary continental breakfast is served in the lobby of this wing. There are 38 guest rooms in the Newport Building with patios or balconies overlooking the beautifully landscaped grounds. Cribs and rollaway beds are available.

Amenities offered

The elegant lobby of the historic Main Inn at the Bar Harbor Inn greets guests with its cozy fireplace and interesting gift shop. The Reading Room Restaurant and Lounge serves delicious fine dining, and the complimentary Continental breakfast is served in the lobby of the Oceanfront Lodge. Each one of the three wings (the Main Inn, the Oceanfront Lodge, and the Newport Building) offer a view--either of the ocean or the perfectly landscaped and maintainted grounds and gardens. The Inn's Group Sales Manager will assist with tour plans for whale watching, nature cruises, Acadia National Park Tours, and other activities. The luxurious Spa offers a variety of spa treatments with state-of-the-art facilities with word class service. Meetings and social events can be held at the Porcupine Room, which features a deck with ocean view and can serve up to 60 people.

By Car Take I-95 to Bangor, exit 182 A (formerly exit 45A), continue on I-395 to exit 6A, and drive East on Rt. 1A to Ellsworth, then Rt. 3 to Bar Harbor or Take I-95 to Augusta, exit 109 (formerly exit 30), and follow Rt. 3 to Bar Harbor (A bit longer, but more scenic). By Air The Bar Harbor - Hancock County Airport is 12 miles from the Bar Harbor Inn. The airport is served by: US Airways 1-800-428-4322 with direct or connecting flights from Boston.
