1st visit to city...will return to Royal Sonesta! - posted on 02/23/2005
My fiance and I were looking for a clean, well-appointed place to stay while on our first visit to New Orleans. We were so pleased with the Royal Sonesta. The hotel is located right on Bourbon Street, but the noise from the outside is muted on the inside. We were within walking distance of everything so I don't recommend renting a car (parking cost us $27 per night!). Our room was spacious, very clean and classy. The staff was helpful, room service was delicious and the atmosphere elegant. And what a bargain at $X per night!

Nice hotel, good service, nice room with plenty of space! Had room right above Bourbon. Great if you're out partying until last call...but a little noisy if you're wanting to sleep. Overall Great Experience and recommended!!!

From the moment you pull into the garage, you are greeted with warmth and generousity. Upon arrival, they upgraded us to a room with a balcony which was nice. The courtyard is simply amazing! I hope to hold my reception there one day. As far as the service, my girlfriend and I checked out but wanted to roam the city one last time on our 3 day trip but we had our dog with us. The concierge not only held our dog back in his office, but he gave her water and food every now and then. Now that's what I call service! This is the ONLY place I will staying in future visits.

It was a very nice hotel. The decor was beautiful with courtyards in pool area, etc. Noise level was okay from Qtr.

The staff at the hotel and the restaurant were great. The room was clean and good veiw. I would recommend it to anyone who is going for a great time. You step out of the hotel into a very large party. It was the best!

Service was fantastic considering the circumstances in New Orleans. The Sonesta received little damage from Katrina and is still one of the best hotels in a city with a lot of great places to stay.
worlds greatest service - posted on 06/27/2006
I left my Ralph Lauren prize pillow in july At the royal returned in Dec and housekeeping was able to locate it. The staff went out of there way time after time for us. My favorite jewelry shop in the WORLD!

Unfortunately, Bourbon Street is back to it's pre-Katrina state. The Royal Sonesta is a wonderful hotel, however, you must step out of the front door on to Bourbon. The smell is horrible. I won't return.

Can't say enough nice things about this Hotel. They were better prepared than FEMA! I think their generator was the key. Lovely room, with no signs of Katrina. Clean, fresh and a great view of the French Quarters. It was amazing how they accomodated the military and N.O.PD. I could hear a pin drop. The services at the time were limited but all in all the professional staff went out of their way to make me feel comfortable. I would welcome a stay there in the future. This is a must stay.
Nice hotel - posted on 04/12/2006
The hotel is in a great location. Checking in and out was easy. Parking was a huge problem. The spaces are tiny, especially for an SUV. But if you leave the hotel in your car, don't assume you will be able to park there when you return, even though you are charged upon check-in for your parking. We had to pitch a fit to get back in the lot. And then it took us 40 minutes to get out of the lot when checking out due to high volume and an antiquated system. It's a mess!!!
Could have been better for the price - posted on 08/11/2005
As I said.. Could have been better... I was chased by the biggest roach I have ever seen... very small room... Use the mini bar and go broke... The people that work there are some of the best NO has to offer though.

I've stayed at several hotels in N.O. before but this was my first time staying in the french quarter,so i was a little skeptical about being right on Boubon. The rooms are extremely well kept and very clean .Only paid $X for a balcony room on Boubon.9 a.m. jazz band on street, so there is going to be noise, but the rooms are immpecably clean.I would definately stay at the Sonesta again.Love it!

My wife and I enjoyed our stay very much and wished we could stay longer. Nice rooms, clean & comfortable. Beautiful botanical garden in courtyard, nice pool area, friendly & helpful staff. We will be back!
