About the Pontchartrain Hotel

If you are only in New Orleans for a wild night of partying, head for Bourbon Street. However, if you want to get a taste of the real New Orleans head for The Pontchartrain Hotel in the historic Garden District. A stay at The Pontchartrain is reminiscent of a visit to the home of a genteel and eccentric southern Grand Dame. If the walls could talk what grand stories they would tell of scintillating scandals and celebrity secrets. Stroll along St. Charles Street and soak in the beauty of gracious mansions and gardens. And, when you are ready to see the sights or party the night away, the streetcar stops right out front.

The Garden District is not a party district. Stay there for the beauty and history and head to the French Quarter to party. If you appreciate fine furnishing and art and enjoy an elegant atmosphere, this is your hotel. But,if you want hip, hot and high-tech, The Pontchartrain is not the best choice. During Mardi Gras, it's right on the parade route, but plan ahead. Reservations must be booked up to a year in advance for Mardi Gras. Read our customer reviews?

Coming from the West: I-10 East toward New Orleans. Take Hwy 90 West Bank exit (that will remain straight). Take the Carondelet St. / St. Charles Ave. exit. Get in the right hand lane and go through the light. Make a right on St. Charles Ave. Eight blocks down on the right @ 2031 St. Charles Ave.

Coming from the East: I-10 West toward New Orleans. From the left-hand lane take the Business Hwy 90 West Bank exit. Stay in the left-hand lane and merge onto the bridge.Take the Carondelet St. / St. Charles Ave. exit. Get in the right hand lane and go through the light. Turn right on St. Charles Ave. Eight blocks down on the right @ 2031 St. Charles Avenue.
