The pet-friendly Residence Inn by Marriott Metairie is on the south shore of Lake Pontchartrian and provides affordable accommodation well suited to the extended stay leisure and business traveler. The three-story non-smoking hotel comprises 120 suites with fully equipped kitchens and separate living and sleeping areas. Items included with the room rates are a hot breakfast buffet, a hospitality hour on Monday through Thursday evenings with a light meal and drinks, high-speed Internet access, local telephone calls, parking and coffee available in the lobby 24/7. There is one room available for social or business functions that can accommodate 60 guests. The inn is nine miles from downtown New Orleans. Other area landmarks and attractions include four golf courses. Tulane and Loyola Universities, Audubon Zoo and Park, swamp and plantation tours and shopping at Lakeside Shopping Center and LaFreniere Park.

This Residence Inn gets many good reviews for its great location, close to the French Quarter, comfortable and spacious suites, and a team of employees that is both efficient and friendly. There was plenty of free parking and the breakfast buffet was better than most guests expected. All the suites have a kitchen with conventional oven and microwave oven, stovetop, refrigerator with icemaker, dishwasher, coffeemaker, toaster and a full set of cutlery and crockery. Other amenities include a fireplace, work desk with high-speed Internet access, two-line telephone with voicemail, pullout sofa bed, television with cable news and movie channels, pay-per-view movies, hairdryer and an iron and ironing board.
