The hotel without question is in a great location, but sadly the grand cost of the rooms doesn't justify what you got. The rooms had poor curtains, which did little to block out any light. I was moved three times, the 1st room had the wrong size of bed requested, the 2nd was very, very small and was on the conference level (very noisy) but finally the last room was good, and had a great view. The main complaint for me was the cost of the room.

I stayed at the Galt House last spring for a conference- my colleague and I were thrilled with the size and layout of our room (suite) although our window looked right out onto the power grid, (you could sort of see the river behind it..), and then late one night I had to battle a monstrous cockroach so that I could go to the bathroom. Horrifying.

I've stayed in many hotels for one reason or another, and let me tell you this is my favorite. The best thing there was the food, it was a reasonable price. Only one complant about the food, they need more options, but over all that part was great! Service wonderful! I could ask for anything:) Rooms were specticular! Only they had a slite smell to them that i thought needed to go.

The hotel was very ncie. People helpful and pleasant. We stayed in a smoke-free room, but the room smelled like someone has been smoking in there for years.

I was in a non-renovated room, without a view of the river. Room rather dark, TV did not work for all of 3 day stay. Furniture old. I was disappointed with the room.
Great location, everything else disappointing - posted on 06/01/2006
DO NOT stay in the west tower, its aweful. I had to pay an extra $30 a night to move to the east tower. $9 a day for parking even though the sign says the max rate for weekends is $7. The weekend we were there there were hundreds of HS kids. Elevators were too busy to use and the bar was filled with kids drinking coke and playing cards on the floor. $5 to use the fitness center. Excellent location but not worth it.

I think that this hotel's service need to improve, during my stay, my room had not been cleaned once.

Parking garage awful. Extra 9 for parking. Nice lobby. Rotten food high price. Not worth staying again.
A room with a view and a smell. - posted on 04/03/2006
I loved my hotel room on the 22nd floor, the view was great. The smell from the bathroom is another story. There was a really fowl oder comming from the bathroom, when I spoke with house keeping they informed me that their was problems with the septic system, they then added about a gallon of some green fluid that was actually worst. I could taste the chemicals in my mouth it was that bad. I went to the front desk and they moved me to a great room, but a sucky view. My entire experience was the same way; bad to ok.

Room Great. I had to ask four times to be seated for dinner--food was just plain bad. Tried room service--food still bad. Didn't clean toilet 3 days out of 7. Had to call twice to get coffee for in-room pot. Left dirty towels in room.

If you stay at this hotel DO NOT stay on the west side. When we got off the elevators the whole hallway smelled of dirty socks. There was paneling broken around the elevators and windows. Our rooms wasn't much better. It smelled and had old rickety furniture. The lighting was so bad you could not read unless it was daylight. Our coffee maker was broken and wasn't clean and when I let it stand out for the maid she just put it back where it was. They also charge you to park at their hotel. Add $9.00 a day to your hotel bill for parkingl. Will never stay there again!

Our trip was wonderful, I've always wanted to stay there, and we were completely satisfied. The staff was great--going out of their way to help us, searching details for local activities, very informative and felt like a family atmosphere ! The Gingerbread House was spectacular and smelled delicious ! It was The Best Christmas Ever!!!

We used to stay at this hotel for the annual dental conventions. We have since changed hotels for the convention but I come back here to stay every year. The atmosphere is so relaxing. It's the best place to grab a glass of wine at the bar and listen to some piano. If the weather is cold and rainy you're definately in the right place. Cuddle up and relax.

We were given a newly remodeled room in West Tower. Room looked nice but heat didn't work, remote to TV didn't work, there was a banging noise every few minutes that could have been pipes or vent fan in bathroom, stone counter sharp on bottom edge resulted in two cuts, shower was lukewarm, beds were very hard. Pool outside and closed. No hot tub available anywhere. All in all not somewhere I'd want to go back to. Only plus was that they lowered the bill $30 when we complained about all this. View was absolutely great but not worth the hassle.
Nice Place, little dry - posted on 01/11/2006
The hotel was beautiful when we arrived but the poarking was a problem. We drive an SUV and were originally told we had to park in the bus lot, a long walk away. The next day we could use the parking gargae, but that night it stopped working and we were back to the bus lot. The fitness center was an extra $5 per day and the hotel room was VERY dry. The WiFi was great and the staff was very friendly.

Grand Ohio Riverfront hotels (there are 2-Galt House and Galt House East). We were placed in the East facility. Room was utterly beautiful and VERY clean. Only drawback was...outside the room was an electric transformer station that hummed all night and made it hard to sleep. Price was great and I would stay there again.

Apparently, there are two towers of this hotel. I was unlucky enough to get the old tower. I can't stress enough how outdated the room was. The beds were on boards, the chairs were wooden with dated cushions and the bathroom had roosters on the tile! I must say for as old as it is it was pretty clean but certainly not comfortable.

I was very disapointed.I was excited when first arriving and seeing the location of the hotel was right on the river. The main lobby was very nice.I thought it looked very good for a three star hotel. My room was located on the west side and it was o.k nothing special.Small room, small t.v. and my remote didnt work.I orderd room service twice and it was mabey the worst food I have tried to eat in a very long time. The River Grill was not much better and the service was slow .I wont be making any plans in the future on staying there.

I had aconference to attend so my family and I reserved a room here. The room was okay, the staff at registration desk was not friendly, the pool was under renovation and no one bothered to put it on the website. My son was very disappointed because he was planning on spending time in the pool during the conference and was left with nothing to do because the pool was closed for renovation. The food at the River Grille was pretty good but it cost us almost $50 with tip for 2 adults and 1 child to eat. We had a smoking room but there was not an ashtray in the room.

I stayed in the hotel for the 2004 Governer's Cup Competition the River Grille was a great resturaunt, it was crowded at times but I still enjoyed the food. The suites were wonderful and I thought that the lobbies were beautiful, the view of the river was great and in some rooms you had a perfect view of the bridge that lit up in purple at night, overall the hotel was excellent.
