As the capital of Kentucky, Frankfort welcomes its guests with amazing architecture, rich history and fantastic shopping. The downtown area has great restaurants and is also the location of the Convention Center. The Old State Capitol building is well worth a visit and if you’re in that area make sure you stop by the Floral Clock. Although a cemetery may not be your first choice, the Frankfort Cemetery has a reputation for being one of the most beautiful cemeteries in the USA. Another great site is Fort Hill where the walls of Fort Boone and New Redoubt can still be seen. If you enjoy learning about the Civil War, this is a definite must. After a long day of shopping and site seeing, you can relax at the Buffalo Trace Distillery where you’ll taste the finest bourbon whiskeys in the nation.
