Student weekend - posted on 01/20/2006
The Holiday Inn in Lawrence is a comfortable motel that is close to the University of Kansas. We stayed for a family weekend at the university and the hotel was well situated for all of the activities. Reasonably priced and clean. It well suited our needs.
not much room for the money - posted on 10/04/2006
for the money the rooms were small and not many extras. They were in the process of recarpeting some areas so that will be better but overall I was not thrilled with the hotel. maybe for half the price.
Dirty - posted on 08/17/2006
The room was dirty and everything was damp. The hallways smelled like sewage. Wifi didn't work.

This hotel needs major renovations; my room was musty smelling. Some remodeling is going on, so maybe the rooms are on the list. The pool area is wonderful;; maintained.
Dirty hotel - posted on 08/09/2006
This was a 20 dollar a night no tell motel. The carpet was worn out, wheel barrels were sitting in the hallways, not one vending machine worked in the entire hotel. I found pubic hairs all over the bathtub when I first arrived. The chairs had ground in filth in them. The furniture was damaged. The lamp shade had three burn holes in it. To top it all off, I was served rotten lumpy milk for breakfast. I cannot believe you would even list this dump. It would be a dump in a third world country. Oh yeah, there was a two inch gap from the bottom of our door to the floor.

The carpet needs replaced badly! This carpet was worse than that in the Mouse in the Motorcycle book...pool pump was broken when we were there, which was a bummer!

Hotel location was an easy drive into Kansas City. Lawrence is a laid back town just what you need after a long day. The hotel served its purpose, but is in need of a serious remodel. from the old carpet to the old roof. Staff was great
FILTHY DUMP - posted on 05/31/2006
This hotel is a filthy dump. If you are a woman traveling alone, do not stay here. All of the security locks on the outside doors are broken. The carpet is wet and mildewed...the entire hotel is filthy and I was afraid to touch anything. This place should be condemned.
Disappointing stay - posted on 05/16/2006
The exercise room was closed for remodeling, which was disappointing. The rooms were dark without outside windows except onto inside atrium. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Pet friendly - posted on 07/21/2005
This is a great hotel to take pets to, ie. dogs, etc. They were very cool about pets, and a lot of people brought dogs here when I was there. Plus, there is a great pool in the middle of the lobby with mini golf around it....almost like it's a Holiday Inn amusement park, with hotel rooms all around it.

We didn't get to sleep till morning because of noisy neighbors. We called the front desk and they sent security.Neighbors were quiet till security left, then the noise was back up.I think security could have done a better job.
