The Savery is a National Landmark building dating back to the 20's. The interior is very well kept up and the room looked to be recently remodeled. All of the facilities are very nice. We thought it was much better than staying in the normal generic hotel that all seem the same no matter what the price. The staff was all very helpful and their standards were obviously above average.

The hotel is very elegant and quaint. It is connected through most of downtown via sky walk. There was some disappointment that most of the businesses in the sky walk (a few hundred) were closed on Saturday, they obviously cater to the business crowd. I was also a bit disappointed, valet parking was $15 a day, and it was in the dirt parking lot across the street. I didn't realize I could have parked right in front of the hotel for free. Staff was wonderful, very willing to help. We came home late one night and soft music was playing so we danced with the bellhop. The rooms were spotless. Our room wasn't made up until around 5 the 2nd day we were there, but that didn't bother us too much. All in all we were very happy with our stay.

Staff was very friendly, rooms were very quaint and nice.

I thought I had to use valet parking, but I did not.

The Renaissance des Moines Savery Hotel, an architectural masterpiece listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is located in downtown Des Moines. This 3-star hotel offers an assortment of amenities for comfort, convenience and confidence. Many visitors liked clean airy rooms with nice décor, comfortable beds, bathrooms, lounge, breakfast, free internet, location and warm staff. However, some guests were disappointed with inconsiderate rude staff, small dirty stained rooms, malfunctioning in-room amenities, plumbing noise and chlorine odor from the swimming pool.
