It was fine to just have a place to sleep for the night. I probably wouldn't stay there with my family, as it is not near restaurants and has no real attraction.

When I requested information about the weather, the desk clerk looked it up and read it to me from the internet.

It was kind of in the boonies.

I am not sure why, but there was a couple leaving unhappy with the conditions of the room. Then I went to my room and it was a muggy night with this distinct cat smell (I am allergic and lived with a cat for 10 years). I began sneezing and felt crappy, but I don't know where else to stay, so I stayed. By the way, I stayed there before and this was never a problem, so I don't know why this time was so bad.

Super 8 Motel Clear Lake is conveniently located off of exit 193 on I-35. Although this is a rural area, guests have access to a wide variety of activities and attractions, including fishing and boating on Clear Lake, the Buddy Holly crash site, the Christmas by the Lake festival, a quaint downtown with antique shopping, and the Walleye Fishing Tournament. The easy on/off access ramp makes this property a convenient place to stay in Clear Lake, Iowa. The new addition of the Kum and Go convenience station adds convenience for travelers. Althoug there is always a range of ways to occupy your time, the city truly comes alive during the first weekend in February as the annual Buddy Holly Memorial weekend gets underway, with events held at the famous Surf Ballroom, the last place Buddy Holly, the Big Bopper and Ritchie Valens played to a packed house.
