The 112-room Fairfield Inn and Suites by Marriott Merrillville provides quality accommodation at an affordable price both the business and pleasure traveler. The three-story, non-smoking hotel is located in the center of Merrillville, at the southwest corner of I-65 and US-30 with easy access to downtown Chicago, Indianapolis, and South Bend. Items included with the room rate are an expanded continental breakfast, high-speed Internet access, local telephone calls, a morning newspaper, parking and coffee available in the lobby 24/7. Area landmarks and attractions include three golf courses, the 3,400 seat Star Plaza Theatre, Deep River Water Park, Indiana Dunes National Park, Westfield Shopping Towne, Horseshoe and the Riverboat Casinos. Local companies nearby include NiSource, State Farm, Dawn Foods, US Steel and the Ford Motor Company.

Visitors to Merrillville enjoyed their stay at this Fairfield. The location was good, close to shops and restaurants, and the friendly and efficient staff did a fine job insuring all guests of a good time. The rates were reasonable and the rooms clean and comfortable. Several clients said the rooms and bathrooms were not that large. All the guestrooms, and 16 suites, have a well-lit work desk with high-speed Internet access, telephone with voicemail, coffee and tea making facilities, television with cable movie and news channels, pay-per-view movies, pullout sofa bed, iron and ironing board, alarm clock and a hairdryer. Video games and players are available for rent.

This inn has an outdoor heated swimming pool and a fitness center. The complimentary breakfast is the only meal served here but there are several places to eat nearby including TGI Fridays, a Red Lobster, Smokey Bones Barbecue and an Outback Steakhouse. The 24-hour front desk has safe deposit boxes, information on area attractions and a list of restaurants that will deliver to the hotel. Other amenities include a coin-operated laundry, valet dry-cleaning, fax and copying services, daily housekeeping and vending machines.
