This was basically a new hotel. They have new pains. All in all, it was a good choice.

The Fairfield Inn I stayed in was pleasant and friendly. I was traveling with my daughter and her daughter; they both found the Fairfield user friendly.

In all instances the staff was quite friendly.

I was slightly disappointed not to find a microwave in room.

The 89-room Fairfield Inn and Suites Marion provides inexpensive accommodation equally suited to the business traveler and families on vacation. The three-story, non-smoking hotel has easy access to I-57 and is a 20-minute drive from Southern Illinois University. Items included in the room rate are a hot breakfast buffet, high-speed Internet access, local telephone calls, a morning newspaper, parking and coffee available in the lobby 24/7. The hotel is close to the Heartland Medical Center and VA Hospital. Corporate offices nearby include General Dynamics, Pepsi, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Circuit City Distribution, Crisp Co and TCT Network. Attractions within a short drive include six golf courses, an eight-plex movie theater and fishing and boating on Crab Orchard Lake, Lake of Egypt and Rend Lake.

Most travelers only spend one or two nights here but they say the accommodation is clean and comfortable and they will use this inn when they pass through Marion again. There were many favorable comments about the very reasonable rates and a crew of employees that is friendly and efficient. The breakfast buffet, with the Jimmy Dean Sandwich, made a great start to the day and it was included in the room rate.
